Chapter 5: Visitor

Dogday

"Hey Dogday," a voice called out. "That voice..." I thought. It sounded very familiar to me. Almost nostalgic if you ask me. It felt like a century that I haven't heard that voice but it was only a while. "So how are the critters? They're not giving you a hard time, aren't they?" It asked. So it knows us but I don't know him or her. He looks more like a man so it must be him. But his face, it's a blurred in my point of view. "How is Catnap doing? Is he socializing with the others? Did you finally convince him to talk with you?" It asked. That final thought gave me the instant memory jog I needed. There was only one person who I talked to the most around this factory. The one person who looks after us, making sure we're properly behaved, the one who is actually one of the nicest, most purehearted scientists in all of Playtime CO.

Even though this is a dream, it was only right to respond back to him. "We're doing fine Sebastian. The rest of the critters are behaving themselves and Catnap is being difficult but he is getting there," I answered. "That's good to know. Well, I have to head out. There's work to do," he said. He got up from where he was sitting and started to walk away from me, entering the eternal void that surrounds us. "Wait, Sebastian," I called out. Sebastian looks behind him with a curious expression. "What is it Dogday?" he asked.

"Will...will I see you again?" I asked. Sebastian gave me a confused look, "What kind of question is that? Of course we'll see each other. It's not like I'm leaving anytime soon right," he asked. "Yeah of course, how ridiculous of me asking, hehe," I chuckled. "I'll see you soon Dogday. Bye now," Sebastian said. He walks away from me, leaving me alone in this endless void. "I hope to see you again...angel," I thought.

Then everything went black.

I woke up, feeling Catnap's arm around me and lower body, cuddling me. "I...I think I know what the answer is. At least it's what my heart is telling me," I thought. I slowly grabbed Catnap's hand out of me, avoiding waking him up though it is impossible as he can be a heavy sleeper sometimes. Once I successfully did it, I looked back at Gabe and Mike and saw they are both good and sleeping soundly. I'll be honest, I'm glad that I can be they're parent with Catnap. I left our room after checking at my children and headed towards the kitchen. "I wonder if there is drinkable water?" I thought. I grabbed one of the cups from the kitchen cabinet, turned the faucet and filled it with water. I drinked and surprisingly, it was good. "I see you tested the water to see if it isn't contaminated," a voice said from behind. I looked behind to see Bubba walking towards me. "Oh Bubba it's you. You startled me," I admitted. "I apologize for that Dogday. It wasn't my intention," he apologized. "Don't worry about it. It was just an honest mistake, it could've happened to anyone so I don't blame you. Catnap does that to me more than enough times than I can count," I said.

"Well that's Catnap for you. He knows how to blend in the shadows so easily. It's almost terrifying at most," Bubba said. We both chuckled softly to evade anyone waking up. "Um Bubba," I said. He looks at with curiosity, "Yeah Dogday," he said. "Do you remember Sebastian?" I asked. He looked too stunned to speak after I spoke out his name. "Sebastian, I haven't heard that name in a while. But to answer your question, I do remember him. What about it?" Bubba asked. "Well...I had a dream about him. Don't know why. I want to ask you if it's just some random dream or something more," I said. Bubba stops what he was doing and thinks.

"I'm sorry Dogday. As smart as I am, I don't have an answer for that. I'm not as focused as who I was before. I guess this whole thing had really diminished my knowledge a bit. But I have a theory. Maybe your dream is something that will come in the near future," he answered. It gave me a slight glimmer of hope. "I hope so. If he comes here, then he may be our savior from this place," I said.
