"Shh. Shh." A grey haired man gently hushed his horse. A younger girl who looked about 12 stood by his side.
The float the horse was in lay on its side, the horses leg had gone through the float badly cutting it up. They had gotten into an accident, the float and a truck lay tipped on its side. Large machinery was damaged, it had been brought in for the new development.
"Yeah, easy. Easy." The brown haired girl gently rubbed the horses head, he let out a quiet whinny, obviously in pain.
"Oh. It's not fair, this life." The 60 something man tells him, "I know you deserve better." He pulls out his gun, cocking it. "Best I can offer you is peace." Resting his head against the horses, the man shots the horse in the neck. The girl bury's her head in the man's jacket as the horse drops.
Holding the girl in close for a minute, the man picks up his hat and walks over to a piece of the machinery. To say he was unhappy about this new development was an understatement.
"Stay here." He tells her, cautiously the man walks to the truck. The driver was lying unconscious, it was clear he had died on impact.
Walking around the other side the man pulled out a letter, titled with paradise valley. Putting an arm around the girl he lead her over to the side of the road resting on the fence, as sirens could be heard coming up the road.
"Let me see your face Tessa." The girl called Tessa turns her head to the side, allowing the man to check the gash on her forehead.
The sirens come to a stop, as the police vehicles pull up. an officer jumping out the car and running straight over.
"Jesus, that's John Dutton and his daughter." He exclaimed "Commissioner, you all right?"

"Hey." Johns second oldest son yelled following him out the house. "told them no." John ignored Jamie and continued walking to the helicopter, "Hey, I said you wouldn't consider it."
John looked towards the truck and horse float pulling in. two people climbing out.
"Should you consider it?" Jamie asks him "Absolutely. We could use the money and the leverage that comes with it."
"You're not coming, Dad?" Tessa asks jumping out the truck, followed by the oldest Dutton.
"No, I got a meeting in Bozeman." He says to the girl, before turning to Lee; "Why don't you take your badge out with you today? Take a rifle too."
"I mean, they won't give us any trouble over strays." Lee says "I mean, hell, they'll probably help us round them up."
"I'll help you round them up." Tessa looks up at her oldest brother, the 26 year old age gap surprising to most. John and his wife had a her when they where in there late 40s, completely unplanned, but John always called her his greatest surprise.
"Well, the badge is for the ranchers riding with you." John tells Lee, "It'll keep them from bringing home any extras."
Lee and Tessa turn back to the truck, John walking towards the helicopter.
"Did you hear me?" Jamie questions, pausing the older man turns around
"Leverage is knowing if someone had... all the money in the world..." he paused putting on his sunglasses. "This is what they'd buy."
And with that he turned around and walked off to the helicopter.

"They even got the barb wire tore down." Tessa stated the obvious as the slowly pulled to where the cattle had gotten out. Only to find the wire had been torn down and a group of Indians from the reservation stood guard.
