I shook my head back and forth.
Luke growled lowly and creeped toward me. "Now," he said.
My body disobeyed me and shifted, leaving a naked me in front of a naked Luke.
I tried to cover as much as me as possible. I knew it wasn't much.
"I have to leave," I begged. "Please. Please. I'm- I'm running. It depends on my life. Oh god you have no idea what would happen to me if I stayed."
Luke just looked at me if sorrow. I knew I had unshed tears in my eyes. But they weren't going to fall. I never cried. Not even when I was broken. I guess I still am broken. I didn't even cry when I broke my arms and legs.
"You can't leave. I won't let you," Luke said quietly, as if he were talking to a baby deer.
"I say you just kill her."
Luke and I both turned to see the guy who carried me to Luke. I growled lowly at him. I would not let someone so low and conniving boss me around.
I shifted quickly and ran at the guy. He barely had to shift before I had my teeth around his neck. I snapped down a second before Fane yelled at me and ripped me off.
I was panting by the time I fell on my side. Luke looked upset. He looked down at the dead wolf laying on the ground.
He didn't even put up a fight. It's his fault.
"Looks like your staying," Luke growled, clearly not happy.
"What? No! Why?" I was freaking out by now.
"You just killed my best fighter, my best friend, and my beta."
"What?" I asked. "No. I can't. I haven't dreamed of having a mate. Just know that I am in trouble. I can't stay."
"You have to," Luke growled. "You just killed my beta. Therefor your the new beta."
"No. No, no, no, no. No way. I just......can't," I whispered.
"If you stay, I can find a new beta, but it requires you mating with me."
This guy was out of his mind. No way was I staying. And I sure wasn't becoming his beta.
"Tell me your name," Luke demanded.
I quickly looked up, surprised. He was inches from my face.
"Lynne," I whispered.
Luke laid his hand, gently, on my cheek. "That's a beautiful name," he whispered in my ear.
I was suddenly self-conscious. I wanted to back away. I wanted to run. To hide. To scream.
The last time any man called me beautiful, it was my dad's friend. He had hurt me. Nobody deserved what I went through. I used to think I did though.
I pushed at Luke. I tried to get away. I screamed. I yelled. I wanted help. I needed help.
Luke grabbed me by the waist from behind. He whispered soothing words in my ear.
"Shhhhh. It's okay. I won't hurt you. Calm down," he whispered.
"NO! YOU JUST WANNA DRAG ME IN! HELP! PLEASE! PLEA-" My voice broke and I tried to regain it. "DON'T TOUCH ME! I-I.......ugh! I just wanna live and be free. I want a happy life for once. Just once," I whispered.
