I GO THROUGH INTRODUCTION SPEECHES IN MY MIND. I'm practicing how to introduce myself to Tallulah's parents. 'Hello sir, ma'am. I am Jasper Hale, and I'm asking your permission for your daughter to come over to my home and meet my family.' I think that's the best I have so far and I'm nervous.

I hold my phone in my hand and type in a message, not even focusing on the road.

Me
I'm almost here :)

Tallulah 🌹
Just finished getting ready, and don't text whilst driving :))

I smile at the message and chuckle slightly, putting my phone away as I turn my eyes back to the road. The car pulls up to Tallulah's house and I can smell the scent of blood. I can hear a collision and the scent of blood only grows.

"Dear, she has a friend picking her up." It's her mother who speaks and I quickly leave the car, hurrying towards the front door. Rage swirls inside of me and I knock on the door. The door gets pulled open instantly and my eyes lock on Tallulah's blood covered face.

My smile drops and she quickly leaves the house, hurrying to close the door behind her. Blood stains her teeth and her red eye is bleeding from a slash. Another slash goes across her temple and I lead her towards the car, opening the passenger door for her.

Her parents watch me from the window of the living room and I glare at them, my eyes lock on her father's bloody hands. I walk around and get into the driver seat. I start driving instantly. "What happened?" I ask her and she looks at herself in the sun visor.

"Tripped." The words are quiet and numbly escape her. She's lying. Her parents are abusing her. I'm enraged that they would dare to hurt her. "Who did it? Your mother or your father?" I push a wave of safety through her and she swallows. "Dad." She whispers out and pushes the sun visor back up.

Blood seeps from her wounds. "Do you have a first aid kit in here? I don't want your family to see me like this. It won't make a good impression." She whispers out, her voice scratchy and breaking. I give her a glance, searching over her for any more injuries.

"They won't mind. Are you okay? Are you bleeding anywhere else?" The scent of her blood isn't bothering me. All I care about is making sure that she is safe now. She shakes her head at my question. "What did he use?" The markings on her skin are unique, I can't tell what wounded her.

"A knuckle duster." My grip on the steering wheel is deadly. I clench my jaw and grind my teeth together. I want to hurt him. I want to hurt him so bad that he will never recover. How dare he do this to his daughter. How dare he hurt Tallulah. It would be easy to do it too.
