I Love You So by The Walters
Sunlight is coming through the wide windows in the kitchen as Seungmin sits at the table, scooping up rice for the woman, who finally sits down after preparing various amount of dishes."I'm sorry it took so long," she sincerely apologizes, nodding in gratitude as she takes her bowl of rice. "It's not often Jeongin eats at home."
"Grandma.." Jeongin whines, thinking of ways he can stop this chitchat, but his sentence gets interrupted by the sight of Seungmin preparing his plate. "I could have done that myself."
"Little care from others won't kill you, so just... let it be." Seungmin argues.
Jeongin's grandmother smiles warmly, clearly pleased to have him home. Jeongin, despite his attempts to avoid the conversation, gives her a soft smile. "You really didn't have to make all this, Grandma. I told you we wouldn't have much time."
"Nonsense," she waves him off, picking up her chopsticks. "You're home, and you've brought a guest. It's been too long since I've seen you eat a proper meal."
Jeongin sighs, but there is a warmth in his eyes that Seungmin hasn't seen before. He really isn't used to this side of Jeongin, the softer, sweeter side that has no bite to it. It's like watching a completely different person.
"Thank you." Jeongin says, voice gentler than usual. "I know I'm always running around, but it's nice to have breakfast with you like this. Especially when you make my favorites."
"You've always liked my cooking. Ever since you were little, you'd be at the table before I could even put the plates down."
Jeongin laughs softly, "I'lll never grow out of that."
Seungmin watches the exchange in silence, spoon halfway to his mouth. He'd never imagine Jeongin to be so... gentle. The sarcastic, sharp-tongued guy who has ruined lives of few, at least that's how he saw it. Now person, who Seungmin thought was so heartless, is sitting across from him, talking to his grandmother like he is still a kid, cherishing every moment spent in this house.
"Don't let it fool you, Seungmin." Ms. Yang says, glancing over at him. "He acts all tough, but deep down, he's always been a sweetheart."
Jeongin groans, covering his face with his hands. "Grandma, please.."
"Oh, I'm starting to see that." Seungmin chuckles, his smirk returning.
Jeongin shoots him a glare, but there is no real heat to it, only mild embarrassment. This isn't the cocky Jeongin he is used to dealing with.
As they all continue to eat, the conversation slows down, leaving a quiet warmth in the room. Jeongin still focused on his food when Seungmin, out of nowhere, leans in just enough to whisper.
