Felix shuts the door quietly behind him, slipping into the silent, dimly lit apartment. For a moment, he thinks Hyunjin must not be home—the whole place is sunk in darkness, still and quiet. Yet he finds himself drawn toward Hyunjin's room, craving the comfort of his presence, like old times, though he hasn't slept there in almost a week.
Felix notices a soft, warm glow seeping through the gap under Hyunjin's door. Careful not to make a sound, he tiptoes down the hall and peeks inside.
Hyunjin and Yeji are curled up and fast asleep. Hyunjin's arm draped over her, and they both look utterly worn out, surrounded by empty coffee mugs and instant noodle cups. Felix can't help but smile at the sight.
Did Hyunjin really have this much to vent about?
Gently, Felix leaned towards the bed, reaching out to brush Yeji's shoulder. "Yeji," he whispers softly. "Why don't you sleep in my room?"
Yeji stirs, blinking up at Felix in confusion before her sleepy smile spread across her face.
"Yeah, okay, Lixie." She yawns and stretches as he stands, glancing at his friend, giggling. "He was out the second we finished the noodles. Still can't stay awake after a meal. Take care of him, yeah?"
Felix chuckles softly. "I've got him. Good night, Yeji."
As she walks out of the room, Felix climbs into the bed, sliding in Hyunjin's arms. The moment he does so, Hyunjin instinctively pulls him close, his arm tightening around Felix's waist, even in sleep. Felix's heart melts as he feels Hyunjin's steady breaths, and he softly brushes a strand of hair from Hyunjin's face.
As if sensing his touch, Hyunjin's eyes flutter open, still clouded with sleep. "Lix?" he mumbles, voice thick with drowsiness.
"Hey." Felix whispers, a gentle smile on his lips. "Go back to sleep."
Hyunjin sighs, closing his eyes as he nuzzles into Felix's shoulder. "Does this mean you aren't moving out?"
Felix's smile falters, "Do you not want me to?"
Hyunjin's eyes snap open, surprised. "What are you even asking? Of course, I don't."
"Oh." Is the only thing Felix utters.
Then as if the realization hits Hyunjin, he suddenly raises on the bed, leaning on his shoulders and staring down at Felix, who's laying there confused. "You were mad at me because you thought I wanted you to move out? Where did that even come from, Felix?"
Felix stares down at his hands, his eyes tearing up. He really doesn't want to fight again, so he holds back his tears and mumbles, "When I said I was going to move out, I didn't mean it, and I thought you knew that. But then you said I should do it."
"Because I thought you wanted to move out!" Hyunjin's voice rises slightly, then softens as he sees Felix's expression. He cups Felix's face, his thumb brushing his cheek. "Felix, ever since we started living together, you've been talking about moving out."
"I wanted to," Felix says, "but that was before we started dating!"
Hyunjin looks puzzled, running a hand through his messy hair. "Then why did you keep saying it even after we got together?"
Felix looks hesitant for a second, but then as if he got tired of keeping it in, he blurts out. "Because I was missing you and I wanted attention! thought if I said I was moving out, you'd tell me not to. I thought it'd be cute, and I'd get my dose of affection."
Hyunjin stares at him, incredulous, before breaking into laughter, shaking his head in disbelief. "Baby, come on. Are you serious?" He chuckles, a sparkle of amusement lighting up his eyes.
