My last words to you

To Sara

Down the cliff, eyes closed and rose-tinted cheeks,
I hope you won't forget me, yet here,
In the abyss of your grey eyes, I stand,
Wishing, still, that you were mine.

Writing the story of us, a tale never to be told,
I recall the day we danced in the rain.
You kissed me, and I wished it could last—
Forever and always—just you and I.

I wondered if we could survive this war,
While you were only thinking of which road to take,
Never looking back. It was evermore,
But never enough.
