the gym was buzzing, the hum of excited chatter bouncing off the walls as the crowd filled the grandstands for the big game. yuwon sat with saeri, rina, and a few other friends, her eyes drifting over the court as players warmed up. the squeak of sneakers on polished wood, the echo of the basketball hitting the floor—it all mixed with the palpable energy in the air. she felt it sink into her, stirring something within. her phone buzzed beside her, and she glanced at it quickly before tucking it back into her jacket.

"you nervous?" saeri teased, nudging her lightly with her elbow. yuwon rolled her eyes but smiled. their teasing had become a part of her day now, she wondered if it was really as fun as they made it to be. "for what? it's not like i'm the one playing."

"no, but yeonjun invited you, which is basically the same thing" rina chimed in, grinning. yuwon sighed. she was never going to hear the end of it. "we all know how these things go. the guy invites the girl he likes, then he goes all out on the court to impress her."

yuwon's lips curled into a small, playful smile, but before she could respond, the sound of footsteps approaching made her glance up. yeonjun stood in front of her, tall and confident, with that easygoing smirk plastered on his face. he looked so effortlessly cool in his basketball uniform—jersey hanging loose on his lean frame and broad shoulders, shorts riding just below his knees, and his hair slightly tousled from warming up.

"hey, yuwon" he said, voice a bit breathless from the practice drills. yuwon opened her mouth to greet him back, but he cut her off before she could. "i don't have much time, i came to give you something" the group fell silent, everyone's eyes darting between yeonjun and yuwon, waiting for what he'd say next.

before she could ask, he pulled out his jersey—his spare one, white with bold lettering, number 09 standing out in a dark blue. without a word, yeonjun held it out to her, that mischievous gleam in his eyes making her stomach flip.
"thought you might wanna wear this. y'know, cheer for your favorite player properly."

her heart skipped a beat. she stared at the jersey for a second, processing the gesture. she knew what this meant. wearing a guy's jersey at a basketball game was like staking a claim, making it known that she was there for him and him alone. and yeonjun. . .he was making sure everyone knew that.
how funny she thought for a moment i'm number 07

yuwon reached for the jersey, her fingers brushing against his hand as she took it from him. "thanks" she grinned, trying to keep her voice steady. "i'll wear it with pride."

yeonjun's smile widened. "i knew you would. don't take your eyes off me for a second okay?" he winked before turning on his heel and jogging back toward the court, leaving yuwon sitting there, jersey in hand, her friends staring at her like she'd just been handed the keys to the kingdom.
