the parking lot lay silent, vast and empty beneath a sky heavy with clouds, only a single streetlamp casting a weak, sickly light over the cracked asphalt. heeseung's footsteps echoed in the stillness, muffled by the chill in the air, each step slow, steady, like he could somehow prolong the inevitable. his jaw clenched, hands tucked into the pockets of his jacket as he caught sight of the lone car parked dead center, shadowed and ominous, like a viper waiting to strike.
leaning against the car's sleek side, yeonjun was an unsettling picture of ease, his posture almost lazy, arms crossed, head tilted as though he'd been waiting there forever. the faint glow from the streetlamp traced harsh lines across his face, casting his eyes into shadow but leaving his mouth visible, twisted in a smirk that reeked of something cruel and unresolved.
"about time you showed up" yeonjun called out, his voice calm, mocking, but his eyes betrayed him—there was something bitter, hollow, glinting just below the surface. "couldn't bear to wait another second, could you?"
"you got five minutes. make it quick" heeseung's voice cut through the cold, his tone as flat as the asphalt beneath them, yet sharp enough to slice.
yeonjun's smirk only deepened, but it didn't reach his eyes. "you're so confident, aren't you? like you've got it all figured out." he paused, taking a step closer. "but you don't know her, not like i do."
the words stung, but heeseung didn't flinch, instead he scoffed. yeonjun doesn't know a thing about yuwon. "funny. you think you know her? the same guy who couldn't take no for an answer?" he spat, his tone laced with disdain. "face it, yeonjun. she made her choice, and it wasn't you. so, whatever pity party you're throwing yourself, i suggest you get over it."
yeonjun's jaw tightened, the smirk slipping, replaced by something raw, something that twisted into anger. "oh, i see" he hissed, his voice low, dangerous. "you think just because she looked your way, you're something special? you don't know a damn thing, heeseung. you're just. . . convenient. a thrill. a distraction."
the words hit like a punch, but heeseung only clenched his fists, keeping his expression cold, impassive. "call it whatever you want" he shot back, his voice hard. "i'm not the one hanging around her like a shadow, hoping she'll change her mind. i'm not the one who thinks he's owed something just because she was nice to him once."
a flicker of hurt crossed yeonjun's face, quickly buried beneath the bitterness. "you think you're so much better, huh? because you're the guy she 'chose'? but you're nothing. she'll see that soon enough." he took another step closer, his gaze boring into heeseung. "i gave her everything. and i'm not about to stand by while you pretend you're worth more than that."
