(TW: Implied Child Neglect, Blood and Swearing)
__________________________Vine was breaking the boulder into tiny chunks, it was easier to build with smaller pieces than with the whole thing. But, she knew that they might have to deal with it for the supports.
Her mind wondered to other places at random as her body was doing its task like a machine.. What was that dream about? Why did she have it? Why can't Violet have dreams?
Too many questions, too many potential answers...
Vine wasn't a particularly a religious creature, but she wouldn't be all that surprised if she was subconsciously preying for guidance from The Eye.
Why did she have to think so much? Why is she making up so many quest— No. It's not worth her brain capacity to think about such stupid things.
How can Violet live with all these thoughts?
Vine smacked one of her maws, how utterly pathetic of her to even have these plagues in the first place. No wonder why her mother always saw nothing in her.
Vine just hated how shameful she was, just by being born. It didn't make sense! It never made sense!
BR loves her, BR's looking after her! BR's just trying to make her be a better creature! So why is she failing so badly at being what her mother wanted her to be?!
Before Vine knew it, her claw was bleeding. Shit, she shouldn't have hit that rock so hard.
She sighed, Violets probably done resting anyways.
__________________________Violet just finished drinking some water as the green creature walked into their cave, she said something about needing to heal before sitting in the corner of the area.
He wanted to ask her what happened, but, he knew that she wasn't feeling well. Especially with her newly broken claw, he'll have to cut a bit of his cloth for a bandage soon.
But for now, it was best for him to leave her alone to rest.
He walked out and grabbed the many stones, they were as big as he was but they were quite light compared to what they were before.
Violet started to stack them on top of each other before going and placing them on and near the cave. It made an arch-like formation around the entrance, it would add some much needed space to the claustrophobic area.
He wiped the sweat off of his head(?) before stretching. He should go out for a walk! That could make him feel much more relaxed!
He grabbed an empty clay bottle before leaving, he knew of an Oasis nearby, that was why he even settled in that cave in the first place. He could grab a snack, a goldwing could be really good!
He hopped over to the general direction of The Oasis, has Vine ever been here before? Probably, every creature needs food and water!
Violet paused. There was a black figure drinking from the water, they almost looked just like Vine but without the extra set of legs and ears.
"Hello there!" He waved to them, is this one of Vines siblings? A cousin maybe? If so, then why didn't she tell him that her old village was nearby?
He'd ask her once he gets back, she most likely just forgot.
"Oh, Hello..." The other creature said, they were clearly an elder, thin limbs and grey scales dotted across their body like grains of gravel floating in an empty void.
"Who are you and what are you doing here..?" They hissed, their claw taking a defensive stance.
"I'm Violet! I'm just here to take a sip!" He said cheerfully, "Who are you?"
"I'm Black Rose. I assume that you live in that cave over there?"
Violet paused for a second, he knew that it wasn't that great of an idea to tell a stranger where he lives but she seemed nice enough!
"Yeah!"
"May I rest in there until I go back to my village..?"
"Sure! It's just a short walk!"
__________________________Vine got up, wincing at the feeling of dried blood on her sore claw. It was manageable enough.
She walked out of the cave, noticing how much roomier it is. 'Thank Eye I don't have to be living in an Insectoids hive..' She thought to herself before stretching.
"Hey Vine! How was your nap?" Violet greeted her, she still couldn't understand how he was able to be such a ray of positivity.
"It was fi—"
Oh, oh shit.
Behind him was her mother, the Elders gaze cold and distant as usual. "W-Why is she here..?" Vine asked, trying to sound as normal as possible despite the situation she was in right now.
"Oh! Her? She just wanted to go and rest in here for a bit! Do you know her?" Violet was completely oblivious to this, Vine was weighing her options.
Either A; She tells him about what she's gone through before they met.
Or B; She lets him be blissfully unaware.
She chose the latter.
"...Yes, she's my mom." Vine made a forced smile. She noticed how Violets ears lowered in suspicion and sadness before he responded.
"...Cool! I'll let you two catch up!" He then left the cave. Leaving Vine and BR alone.
"I didn't know you would choose an Avian instead of another Reptilian..."
"He's not my mate! Just a roommate, I know that you would never support that in a trillion years."
"...Sure. Just, don't be like your father, you already have inherited too much from him."
"I know mother..."
"Good girl. You know that everything I do is done to protect you, right?"
"Yes, yes I know. I'll never let my Insectoid side get in the way.."
"So... I didn't think that you'd survive out there, I'm proud of you for your strength."
"What do you want from me..?"
"All I want is to visit you, is talking to your mom a crime now?"
"No..."
"I'll leave, don't expect to never see me again."
And with that, the Elder left. Leaving Vine all alone, she hates that she doubts BR's word. No wonder why she has to be reminded to not be like her dad...
