Maisie and Marnie had gone to the old movie theater, followed by Gwen, Dylan, and Sophie.
Maisie and Marnie had pushed open the door, but Gwen forced her way in first.
"Mother!" yelled Gwen.
"Grandma!" yelled Marnie.
Maisie, however, felt frozen when she saw the evil force from the witch's glass from earlier.
He was more terrifying in person and also uglier. He must've been wearing a mask of some sort.
"Get them!" ordered the evil warlock.
Aggie ordered the evil warlock, "Leave my family alone!"
Luke ran over, but Gwen held up her hands and chanted, "Wastrel youth of united hours, be thee vanquished by my powers!" However, Luke got covered in yellow sunflowers. "I said powers, not flowers."
Maisie couldn't help but smile a little, because maybe Gwen should've kept up with her powers instead.
"Way to go, Mom," Marnie said, as they followed after Gwen down the aisle, pushing past a sunflower covered Luke.
"This is your last chance," the evil warlock said. "Give me the talisman!"
"Never!" replied Aggie, in defiance.
Gwen spoke to Maisie and Marnie, "Keep your brother and sister back!"
Maisie grabbed a hold of Sophie and Dylan, to keep them in place, as the evil warlock casted a ball of blue light at Aggie, but Gwen pushed her out of the way, getting hit with the spell instead.
"Mom!" yelled Marnie as Gwen hit the chairs, freezing in place.
"Gwen," replied Aggie, sadly seeing Gwen.
"Sleep now Agatha Cromwell, and when you awake, I will be your master," the evil warlock said, waving his hands, and casting a blue ball of light at Aggie, hitting her with the spell.
Aggie fell back into a chair as Marnie yelled, "No!"
Sophie and Dylan went to the back door and Maisie grabbed Marnie's arm, "We need to go."
"We got to save them," replied Marnie.
"We can't save them unless we save ourselves first," Dylan agreed, taking Marnie's arm, "Come on." He and Maisie dragged her to the back door.
Sophie opened it and Maisie watched with some interest as the sunlight hit the evil warlock, blinding him, making him cover himself with his arms.
"Mai," Aggie said.
Maisie turned to Aggie, "Grandma?"
Aggie started pointing at the door, "We'll be all right. Go! It's just an evil spell that freezes us. Go!" She froze and Maisie was pretty sure the sight of her unseeing grandmother frozen like that was going to haunt her nightmares.
"Mai, let's go," Dylan replied and Maisie finally turned around from Aggie, and they ran down the fire escape.
Dylan kept a hold of Sophie's hand as they turned a corner, nearly hitting Marnie, who stopped in her tracks.
"What are you doing?" Dylan said, "We gotta get back to Grandma's."
Marnie said, "No, not yet."
"'Not yet?'" Dylan asked, "Are you crazy? That shadow...thing is gonna turn us into statues."
Maisie thought back to the evil warlock, "I don't think is going to come outside. The sunlight must've hurt it somehow."
"Yeah," Marnie agreed. "He can't stand the sunlight. We're safe for now."
"I want Mommy and Grandma," Sophie said, sounding like she was going to cry.
Maisie pulled Sophie into a hug to comfort her, "Me too. But your big sisters are gonna get them back." Somehow...went unsaid.
"You are?" asked Sophie, still sounding like she was going to cry.
"Well, duh," Marnie said. "Of course we are. There are just a few things we need to get first."
Dylan was incredulous, "You're going to do some shopping? Can't this wait?"
"We have to finish the Witch's Brew," Maisie replied.
"Yeah, getting that talisman lit is our only chance of saving Mom and Grandma," Marnie agreed. She took out a piece of paper from her pocket, "Here. I copied the ingredients from Grandma's cookbook."
Dylan took the paper and looked at it, "Hair of a werewolf?" He sounded incredulous, like Marnie had written it down wrong, "Sweat of a ghost?"
Maisie asked Dylan, "Haven't you noticed by now that this town isn't an ordinary town?"
Marnie took the ingredient list from Dylan, "Come on, Dylan. We're Cromwells. Together, we can conquer anything." She stuck her hand out.
Maisie put her hand on top of Marnie's, then Sophie stuck her hand on top of Maisie's.
They looked at Dylan, who sighed, "I don't know." He stuck his hand on top of Sophie's.
Marnie smiled, "Come on." They headed on out to gather the ingredients they needed for the Witch's Brew.
