Maisie grew up not being able to celebrate Halloween with her siblings and mother. However, her grandmother, Aggie, is always ready and willing to celebrate with them. So, one day, Maisie's twin sister, Marnie, and their younger brother, Dylan, deci...

It was hard to believe that two years ago, Maisie had helped to defeat an evil wizard by the name of Calabar. It had been two years that she had last stepped foot in Halloweentown.
She wondered how it changed or who was mayor now since Calabar was gone.
Of course, Aggie said that things are always changing in Halloweentown, but in the mortal world, nothing has changed since Aggie and Gwen were fighting again.
Of course, Maisie got her own room, which was a plus.

She was lying on her bed, reading a book, trying to drown out the emotion overload of the Halloween party that was going on downstairs, because it was too much for her.
She felt a presence and looked up from her book and looked at the wall above her dresser. She frowned and looked down, spotting her black kitten, Wednesday, who too, was staring at the wall above the dresser.
It was just cats being weird again. Right?
She went back to her reading and there was a knock on the door.
"Mai," called Sophie, knocking again. "Grandma wants you to come down."
"Okay," Maisie replied, tossing the book to the side of her bed. Bookmarks were for quitters.
She sat up and put her shoes on to go with her dress that she was wearing for the party. She had fishnet sleeves on.

Maisie patted Wednesday on the head and got up to go downstairs where she was supposed to help serve guests.
Marnie was going as a witch, Sophie was a cowgirl, Dylan looked to be an usher, and Maisie was...something.
Aggie was passing out hats from her bag that was also filled with candy and other stuff. Aggie was saying, "Yes, hats for everybody. Everybody, now, don't fight. No fighting. Witches don't fight." She passed out pointy hats. "Oh, now if you're gonna be real witches and warlocks, we need brooms too, right?" She started pulling out toy broomsticks from her bag.
"Ooh, magic, magic, brooms," Aggie was saying as Marnie and Maisie walked up to Aggie together with Sophie in tow. "There you are dears. You got here just at the right time, you two."
Maisie took a piece of taffy from the magic bag and unwrapped it, "You needed us for something?"
"How about you take our little partygoers for a little spin around the house?" asked Aggie.
Maisie was slightly confused as she ate the taffy. Was Aggie suggesting that they use magic to have the partygoers ride the toy brooms? Aggie knew how Gwen felt about that.
"Grandma," Marnie started. "I don't think this is a very good idea."
"What?" replied Gwen. "Oh, fiddle. I can't let your mother spoil my fun every day of the year."
Sure, it would be fun, but also dangerous. That was why Halloweentown was created and as much as Maisie wanted to live in Halloweentown, a part of her also belonged in the mortal world.
She had soccer, she had her best friend, Kimberly Michaels, she had her crush, Jason, to look at.
"Mother," Gwen said, coming over.
"Oh, hello dear," Aggie greeted.
Maisie walked away from the feeling of frustration emitting from both Aggie and Gwen, along with the excitement from the children.
She went over to Kimberly, who was wearing a white button-down shirt, a black apron, and a chef's hat. She was holding a rolling pin.
They had become fast friends when they both tried out for the soccer team their freshman year of high school.
Maisie asked Kimberly, "How's it going?"
"Bored," Kimberly replied.
The contentment that Kimberly was radiating was enough to quell a forming headache. The high emotions at high school were enough to make Maisie stay in the library, since puberty, hormones, and emotions were flying everywhere.
Maisie looked at the kids who were going to go bobbing for apples, "Is that your little sister?"
"Yeah," Kimberly responded. "I have—" She straightened up spotting a guy their age, wearing a fake leather blazer? walking towards the kitchen where Marnie and Gwen had walked off into. A man was following them.
"I'll go see if he's single," Maisie teased Kimberly, poking her in the arm.
"Stop it," Kimberly replied, grinning. "I have to go make sure Kenzie isn't going to drown anyone while bobbing for apples."
"Yeah, that would be bad," Maisie said. Maisie headed for the kitchen while Kimberly went after her sister.
