After wasting time by trying to remember the spell, and crowding Gort with gnomes, he growled, "Will you stop saying that one?"

"We can't remember the spell," Marnie defended herself.

"Well, you both have to," Luke said.

Gort set a gnome down, "This is stupid. Why don't we just use my timeline?"

"Your timeline?" asked Maisie confused.

"Some wizard must've lost it," Gort explained. "Come on, I keep it in the closet."

Marnie whispered to Luke, "Timeline?" Luke shrugged.

They went to the closet and Gort opened the doors, revealing a very pretty looking portal.

"It's so pretty," Maisie said.

"How does it work?" asked Marnie.

"The timelines tell us what year it is in the mortal world," explained Gort. "The past is one direction; future is in the other."

"You know," Marnie started. "That looks just like a Stephen Hawking description of a non-stellar black hole."

"And your point is?" asked Luke.

"Well, theoretically, black holes can accelerate time," explained Marnie.

"And that would help us how?" asked Luke.

"Just follow the fastest moving timeline," Gort told them. "Now get outta here."

"Gort," Luke said. "I'm a goblin. Theoretically, I can't fly."

"Yes, you can," said Marnie. She took out two small broomsticks from her bag.

"What's that?" asked Luuke.

"This," Marnie said, doing a spell to make both broomsticks big. "Are my and Mai's new-and-improved brooms."  The brooms hovered in midair. "Grandma gave it to us."

Maisie got on her broom. Unlike Marnie's, her broom didn't have the handlebars.

"Wow," said Luke, impressed.

Even Gort seemed equally impressed.

"Cool, huh?" Marnie replied, as she pulled up the handlebars on the broom, and pushing the broom down to lower it so she can get on. The broom got higher once Marnie was seated and Marnie glanced at Luke, who still didn't get on the broom. "Come on, get on." She patted the seat behind her.

"Could you lower it a little?" asked Luke.

Marnie seemed annoyed and pushed the broom down so it could lower. "Well, come on, just swing your leg over."

"I'm a – I'm a little of flying," Luke admitted.

Marnie took on a baby voice, "Aw, do you want to stay here?"

"No," replied Luke, shaking his head.

"Then get on the broom," Maisie snapped.

Luke got on the broom, making the broom rise up. "Whoa, whoa, just hold on a minute."

"No time," Maisie said, flying right into the timeline.

Gort said to follow the fastest timeline, and the past was in one direction and the future in the other.

Marnie and Luke caught up to Maisie.

"Look out," yelled Luke.

Following the timeline was like driving on a highway.

"We're never going to make it," called Luke. "The portal closes in a few minutes and we're only in the 1600s."

They flew by 1640 and Marnie pointed, "I think we should try that blackhole over there."

"That's just a theory," Maisie replied, but it was the only option they had.

So, they flew right into the blackhole.

"And what if this blackhole theory doesn't work?" asked Luke as they disappeared right into the blackhole.

They shot right out of the pile of socks right into Gort's cottage, but it was the gray version.

"Hurry," said Luke. "It's almost midnight."

"Grandma," said Marnie, as Aggie and Gort swapped socks.

"Trapa," yelled Maisie, willing for the magic to work.

It did, because Aggie changed by into her colorful self again. Aggie looked at her hands.

Marnie ran over to hug Aggie, "Grandma, we have to get back to the mortal world."

"Oh, yes," Aggie said, as she got up.

They put their hands together and said the spell, "From Halloweentown, depart we now, on this night, the night of All Hallows Eve, back into the mortal world, through the portal we take our leave."

The portal opened, but they only eighteen seconds left.

The doors were closing.

"No!" yelled Marnie as she ran to the doors. "They can't close now!" She yelled, "Mom!"

Then the doors closed.

Marnie turned to look at them.

"It's too late," Luke said.

"Thanks for pointing out the obvious," Maisie replied.
