All he knew was that they were running out of time and attention was being drawn to them.
Cole looked closely at the doorknobs and noticed the shape of keyholes, Cole lightly tugged on Shawn's hand in an urgent way.
Suddenly Cole pulled off the Skeleton Soldier's hand, Shawn stopped and immediately looked at his arm, Cole looked at the torn off hand of the skeleton.
Both of them squealed, Shawn fell back on the floor while Cole threw the hand back at Shawn. Cole covered his eyes and looked away; his hands shook uncontrollably with guilt.
"SHAWN! I'm so sorry! I wasn't trying to do that! That's not what I meant! Oh no. Are you gonna be, okay?"
Cole's breathing picked up when Shawn started to freak out more, he pointed to his arm socket.
"Please tell me you're gonna be okay! Don't die on me! You can't die, we have to get your sister back!" Cole pleaded.
"MY ARM COLE! LOOK WHAT YOU DID!"
Cole would start to tear up, trying to connect the arm to the socket. He looked away grimacing.
Shawn started to laugh as a popping sound could be heard, Cole glanced back. The Skeleton Soldier had their hand back on their arm like nothing had happened.
"Hah! You were so scared! You genuinely thought I had died, oh my goodness. Man, I just wanted to see how long that would last. Like you should have totally seen your face there!"
Shawn chuckled as Cole just stared at him, Cole slowly took off his glasses.
"Heh, am I cruel for that? Probably, but for real man I'm good!"
Shawn was taking a breather as he wiped away some tears of joy, Cole just squinted.
"You don't need to worry about me, I'm perfectly fine, it's just what skeletons can do. Anyways, what were you trying to tell me?" Cole lightly socked them in the arm.
"OWIE hey now! Just messin with ya!"
They both got up and went to the doors.
Cole inspected the keyhole once more and noticed it was just the shape of a small circle.
They did everything they could with the doors, however nothing worked. Shawn was fed up and started to walk back the elevator, the boy hung his head and looked at the floor, something caught the corner of his eye.
There was some card sticking out from the bottom of the doorway. It stuck out slightly.
Cole slowly kneeled by it and pulled it out of the doorway, it was a picture.
The picture was one of Solamon when he was a kid or teen, he was standing next to a few others. The picture had the names of the kids in the picture; the font was dark but had some glow like illumination to it.
There were names on the card,
"Krenick, Briella, Seth, Solamon, Wynter, Richmond."
Cole wondered why Briella was with Solamon and Seth in the picture. He almost forgot that Solamon implied The Mysterious Man as Seth a few days ago.
He looked at one of the other names he wasn't familiar with, that name was under a skeleton in the picture. "Hey Shawn? Quick question, I know this might sound weird, but did you know the name of your king?"
Shawn stopped and looked back at Cole.
"Do you remember it? Did it start with a K or something? Something like ehm, Krenick?"
"Huh? Let me see! It's been a while since I've seen them. How'd you know that?"
He slowly approached Cole. His eyes lit up when Cole pointed towards the picture with Krenick.
"Yeah, that's them. He hurt me so badly, I gave him everything, all my time and respect and loyalty, but he didn't give anything. Anyways let's go."
"Yeah, hopefully one day he gets what he deserves. Yeah, let's just go."
Cole pat Shawn on the arm before they went back to the elevator, the boy put the picture in his pocket.
Cole glanced over at the skeleton.
Shawn had his arms crossed and looked to the corner. Cole frowned at the sight.
Back in their cell Shawn kicked a bucket in the cell. He kicked some more things, including the wall.
"Calm down I understand!"
"NO, YOU DON'T! My sister is probably being turned into a soldier like I was, for that rat bones king! I couldn't even protect her."
"Shawn I'm sorry, look okay I don't. But keep yourself together, Sally wouldn't want you like this!"
Shawn looked out the window, Cole sat on the bed alone.
"I'm sorry, I just miss her."
"That is something I do understand, let's keep our heads up." Shawn looked back.
He smiled slightly before rubbing Cole's hair, making the boy laugh.
The cell door opened, they stopped and looked over. It was Wells.
He walked up and grabbed Cole by the shirt collar, Shawn threw hands at the general but was shoved to the ground.
Cole was dragged out, he screamed in horror.
PLEASE HELP ME, DON'T LET HIM TAKE ME!
One thing dawned; the opportunity was a closed window. ***
