Sticks is crouched in her burrow, muttering to herself as she organizes her various "security measures" (which mostly consist of strange, cobbled-together traps and warning devices). She's always been paranoid, but lately, it's been getting worse. Ever since Shadow started acting strange, Sticks has felt like something's off.

As she fiddles with her traps, there's a sudden movement behind her. Sticks spins around to find Shadow standing in the entrance of her burrow, his eyes scanning the room.

"Your home is poorly defended, fool."

Sticks began shrieking in terror. "Gah! Intruder! Alien government spy! He's here to steal my brainwaves!"

She dives for cover behind a pile of junk, glaring at Shadow with wide, suspicious eyes.

As Stick pointied an accusing finger she replied,  "I knew it! You've been watching me! You're with them, aren't you?! The alien overlords sent you to gather intel on me!"

Shadow was calmly, ignoring her outburst, "I'm making sure you aren't a threat to Sonic."

Stick's eyes were wide, frantic "Threat?! To Sonic?! Ha! That's what an alien agent would say! You're not fooling me, Shadow! You're here to probe my brain and sabotage my defenses! Well, I won't let you!"

She starts rummaging through her collection of junk, pulling out a strange device that looks like a metal helmet with antennas sticking out of it but it was really just tin foil. She slaps it onto her head, standing defiantly.

"Ha! You can't control me if I block the signals! Nice try, alien spy!"

Shadow barely raises an eyebrow, unimpressed by Sticks' antics. "You're paranoid. I have no interest in your conspiracy theories. My focus is on Sonic."

Sticks screamed, "I'm paranoid? I'm paranoid?" before muttering under her breath. "That's... That's exactly what an alien would say.!"

Shadow crossed his arms. "I can hear you."

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" Sticks yelled, running away franitcly.

Amy is busy in her house, humming to herself as she arranges her decorations.

"Doo, Doo do! I hope nothing bad happens!" She said as she adjusted the last one perfectly in order. She's just finished putting out a collection of neatly arranged figurines and books when the door swings open. Shadow storms in, marching toward the center of the room with no purpose.

Amy turnied around, surprised, "Shadow? What are you—"

Without a word, Shadow brushes past Amy's carefully arranged collection of trinkets and knocks them off the table, sending them crashing to the floor.  Klang, klung, booooooom. Amy gasps in horror as her precious items scatter across the room and shatter.

Amy channeled her inner feminist power, raged "Hey! What are you doing?!"

"Making space for Sonic."

Amy's eye twitches with barely controlled anger as she glares at Shadow, her fists clenching.

"You can't just barge in and destroy my stuff because of Sonic!"

Shadow doesn't even glance at the mess he's created. "Sonic deserves the best, not clutter."

Amy's face turns bright red with frustration, and she barely restrains herself from throwing her hammer at him.  I can't deal with this! She thinks calmly.

-------

Knuckles, lounging on a rock, notices Shadow standing stoically next to Sonic as usual, his protective stance more noticeable than ever. Knuckles scratches his head, completely baffled by Shadow's over-the-top behavior.

Knuckles was Frowning, scratching his head like a caveman "So, what's with this guy following you? Why's he acting all... weird?"

Sonic groans, clearly exhausted from dealing with Shadow all day. "It's a long story, Knuckles. Eggman messed with his head, and now he's obsessed with protecting me from everything."

Knuckles, still not quite getting it, flexes his muscles with a grin. "Ha! I could protect you, no problem! Just say the word, and I'll—"

Shadow cut him off coldly "You're a buffoon, Knuckles. You couldn't protect a paper bag from getting crushed even if you tried."

Knuckles blinks, staring at Shadow for a long, confused moment.

"What's a buffoon?"

Sonic shakes his head, muttering under his breath.

"Yeah, we really need to fix this."
