∆Night Two: Ballora's Gallery∆
With ragged breaths, you finally arrived at the pizzeria, your heart sinking as you glanced at your phone.
Twenty minutes late.
Fuck.
You rushed to the door, hands trembling as you fumbled with the keys, unlocking it and slipping inside before quickly locking it again behind you. Your pulse was pounding in your ears as you dashed toward the elevator, anxiety clawing at your chest with every step.
You hated being late for anything. But especially your job- you didn't want to risk losing it.
Plus, What if Lolbit was mad?
The thought made your stomach churn. You weren't sure what he would do if he was angry-maybe mock you, or worse, kill you. You just hoped he wouldn't take it personally. You'd brought him something, after all. Maybe that would help.
But still, you couldn't shake the nervousness as you pressed the elevator button, the doors sliding shut with a soft ding.
You savored the few seconds the elevator gave you to catch your breath, leaning back against the wall as you waited for it to stop. But as soon as it jolted to a halt, you slammed your hand onto the red button and hurried out, your footsteps echoing down the dim hallway as you made your way to the main module.
Bursting into the room, you didn't notice the wire snaking across the floor until it was too late. Your foot caught, and with a yelp, you were sent tumbling forward.
From the chair Lolbit, startled, reacted before you could even blink. His arms shot out instinctively, catching you mid-fall. For a brief second, you blinked up at him, dazed and still processing the fact that you hadn't face-planted.
Then, just as quickly, his face shifted from surprise to annoyance. Realizing what he'd done, he dropped you- at least he lessened the impact.
You landed on the floor with a thud, not quite as hard as you might've expected, but hard enough to make you wince.
"Smooth," he muttered, folding his arms as he looked down at you with a smirk, his faceplates shifting slightly.
"Thanks... I guess," you groaned, pushing yourself up. Your heart was still racing, partly from the near fall and partly from the fact that he'd actually caught you.
He didn't help you to your feet, of course, but you didn't expect him to.
You brushed yourself off, feeling a sudden wave of self-consciousness under Lolbit's gaze. His eyes flickered with a mix of amusement and mild annoyance, the kind you'd expect from someone who was both used to your clumsiness and still endlessly entertained by it.
"You're late, you know," he said, his voice glitching as always, the distortion adding an edge to his words.
You winced. "I... slept longer than I wanted to."
Lolbit raised an eyebrow, his head tilting slightly, the smirk never leaving his face. "Well, aren't you just a bundle of responsibility," he drawled sarcastically, his eyes glinting as they lingered on you.
"I got here as fast as I could," you mumbled, shifting uncomfortably under his stare. You weren't sure why it bothered you so much, but for some reason, the way he looked at you always made you feel like you were under a microscope.
"I can see that, you're all sweaty and out of breath," Lolbit sneered, his eyes scanning your form, a smirk playing on his lips. "At least you wore a nice outfit-if you're going for that silly theme, anyway." He chuckled, casually spinning the swivel chair around and taking his usual seat.
