∆ Girlfriend? ∆

William Afton, William Afton… there were plenty of articles on him, outlining all the accusations, but nothing recent. No social media, no phone number—just dead ends. How were you supposed to track him down? As if your mind wasn't already spinning with thoughts of Lolbit, now this? Couldn’t just *one* thing be simple for once? Everything felt like a tangled mess, and this search was only making it worse.

Despite how cold and cruel that fox could be, it didn’t change how you felt about him. In fact, it made you feel… sad for him.

Was he really that against the idea of liking you—or anyone? It must be lonely, pushing everyone away, living in isolation, hiding behind layers of sarcasm and cruelty. Never letting anyone get too close. But then again, Lolbit was a machine. Loneliness shouldn't matter to him, right? Maybe isolation didn’t affect him the same way it would a person. Yet the more you thought about it, the more you doubted that. There was something deeper, something beyond just programmed responses and cold logic.

You hoped that his lashing out meant you’d gotten under his skin—maybe even broken through those walls he kept up around himself. Maybe the idea of actually connecting with someone scared him.

Scared him? That didn’t sound right. Lolbit wasn’t the type to be afraid. At least, not in any obvious way. But if it wasn't fear, what else could it be? Perhaps the thought of being vulnerable, of letting someone in, made him lash out.

That had to be it. Otherwise, he was just a bipolar jerk.

And yet, despite everything, your feelings for him only seemed to grow stronger. You sighed, absentmindedly tapping your foot against the floor, frustration bubbling inside.

“Stupid fox,” you muttered, burying your head in your hands. “Why do I *feel* like this for a damn animatronic? It’s not *normal*!” You groaned, the weight of your confusion pressing down on you.

A soft ding from your phone snapped you out of your thoughts. You glanced at the screen, the glow of a new message lighting up the darkness around you.

“Want to hang out?” It was from Zach.

You still had a few hours before work, and your search for any information on William Afton was going nowhere. Maybe a break was exactly what you needed.

With a sigh, you typed back, *Sure, where do you wanna meet?*, and hit send before setting the phone down.

After getting dressed, you headed out, Zach's reply telling you where to meet.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a soft, golden hue over the park when you arrived. The gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze felt peaceful, but your mind was still racing with everything from earlier.

Zach was already there, leaning casually against a bench with that easy smile he always wore. You approached, trying to shake off the thoughts that tangled in your head about Lolbit.

“Hey,” he greeted, straightening up. “I was starting to think you wouldn’t show.”

You forced a small laugh. “Sorry, I just… got caught up in some things.”

You sat beside him, the conversation drifting into casual chatter about work and random stuff. For a like while, it was a welcome distraction, but eventually, the conversation lulled. Zach turned to you, a serious expression replacing his usual playful look.

“Listen,” Zach began, his voice steady but his eyes betraying a hint of nerves. “I've been thinking… We've been spending a lot of time together, and I really like hanging out with you.”

You blinked, heart suddenly racing as you tried to figure out where this was going.

He paused, rubbing the back of his neck before continuing. “I want to ask you something… Would you—would you want to be my girlfriend?”

His words hit you like a wave, the world seeming to slow down. The warmth of the sun, the peaceful rustling of the trees, all faded into the background as you stared at him.

Your thoughts spun wildly. This was normal—something real, uncomplicated, unlike your bizarre, confusing situation with Lolbit. And yet… why did your mind drift back to that damn animatronic? Why did your heart hesitate?

Zach waited, eyes searching your face,
nervous but hopeful.

You swallowed hard, trying to push away the conflicting emotions swirling inside you. This was what you were *supposed* to do, right? Zach was a good guy—normal. You should be happy, you *should* be excited.

But instead, an unfamiliar weight settled in your chest.

Zach’s smile wavered slightly as he looked at you expectantly, still patiently waiting for your response.

“Yeah,” you finally managed, forcing a smile. “I’d like that.”

Zach’s face lit up, relief spreading across his features as he gently took your hand, giving it a light squeeze. “I’m really glad to hear that.”

You smiled back, but the moment felt… distant. Almost like you were watching it happen to someone else. The words had come from your mouth, but they didn’t feel like they belonged to you.

Something wasn't right.

As Zach started talking about future plans for your next date, you nodded along, but your mind was elsewhere, haunted by the thought of Lolbit. You could almost hear his mocking voice, teasing you in that way he always did.

Why did it feel like you’d made the wrong choice?

Zach’s hand was warm in yours—familiar, comforting—but it wasn’t the warmth you craved. That chaotic spark, that strange pull—annoying, confusing, but undeniably *alive*—was missing.

But this was normal, and *normal* was what you wanted... right?

Zach offered to walk you to work, and you didn’t see any harm in it, so you agreed. Yet, with every step toward your job, that gnawing unease grew stronger.

When you finally reached the entrance, Zach turned to you with a smile. “Mind if I come in? I'd love to see where you work.”

You heart clenched, an instinctive response rising up inside you. The last thing you wanted was for Zach to step foot in there, especially anywhere near the animatronics. The thought of him being close to *Lolbit* made your stomach twist.

“Uh, maybe not tonight,” you said quickly, plastering on a smile to soften the rejection. “Another time.”

Zach’s smile faltered just slightly, but enough for you to notice. His fingers drummed against his leg as he let out a quiet huff. “Alright,” he said, though there was a flicker of frustration in his voice. “Next time, then.”

You nodded, trying to ignore the slight tension between you. “Yeah, next time.”

He leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to your cheek before pulling back with a smirk. “See you later, then. Be safe.”

You forced another smile and nodded once more, watching him walk away. The moment he was out of sight, you let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding. Something about that exchange left you feeling uneasy.

You rubbed the back of your neck, staring at the doors in front of you. The last thing you needed was more confusion, but stepping inside felt like diving headfirst into exactly that.
