Chapter 12: Aftermath of Treason
Rodale and Josephine stood victorious amidst the carnage. Their treasonous plan had succeeded, and Lily's family lay defeated.
Scarlet, once a loyal servant, was captured and dragged before Rodale. "You foolish woman," he sneered. "You thought you could deceive me?"
Scarlet spat in his face. "You'll never rule this kingdom justly."
Rodale's smile twisted. "I'll rule as I see fit." With a swift motion, he ended Scarlet's life.
Lily, shattered by her family's demise, wandered the forest, lost and alone. She stumbled upon a river, its waters beckoning her to end her suffering.
As she prepared to take her own life, a figure emerged from the trees. Bessie, her childhood friend, rushed to her side. "Lily, no! Don't do this!"
Lily's eyes filled with tears. "What's left for me, Bessie? My family, my home... all gone."
Bessie's grip on Lily's wrists tightened. "You have me, Lily. And we'll rebuild together."
Meanwhile, Prince Andrew and Venus announced their plans to marry, solidifying their power grab.
Queen Dowager, once a symbol of strength, was found dead in her chambers. The official declaration: a peaceful suicide. Yet, whispers of murder spread.
Rodale's influence reached the depths of the castle, and many suspected his hand in the queen's demise.
As the kingdom mourned, Rodale and Josephine consolidated their power. Their reign of terror had begun.
