Chapter 31: The Pursuit

Lily and her children fled the capital, their horse's hooves pounding the dusty road. They had to escape, to get as far away from Andrew and his family's grasp.

But Lord Thomas, a close friend of Lily's late father, was determined to ensure her safety and well-being. He had promised her father to protect her, and now he felt bound to bring her children back to their father, Andrew.

As Lily rode, she glanced back, seeing Lord Thomas and his men closing in. She urged their horse on, but it was tiring, and she knew they couldn't keep this pace for much longer.

Lord Thomas called out, his voice carrying across the distance.

"Lily, stop! I mean you no harm. I want to help you and your children."

Lily hesitated, remembering her father's words about Lord Thomas's kindness. But she feared Andrew's wrath and the fate that awaited her children if they were caught.

Meanwhile, Venus confided in her father, Lord Rodale.

"Father, the children...they're a threat to the crown prince. What if they're Andrew's heirs?" she asked, worry etched on her face.

Lord Rodale's expression turned cold, his eyes calculating.

"Those children are a liability, Venus. They must be eliminated. I'll take care of it."

Venus's eyes widened, horrified.

"Father, no! You can't mean that."

Lord Rodale's voice was low and menacing.

"I'll do whatever it takes to secure the crown prince's claim. Those children are a threat to our power, and they must be silenced."

Lily, unaware of Lord Rodale's sinister plans, continued to flee. But Lord Thomas's pursuit was relentless, and Lord Rodale's men were closing in. The fate of Lily and her children hung precariously in the balance.
