Chapter 30: Unraveling Secrets
Queen Helena's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing.
"Andrew, if Lily lives, those children could be yours," she stated, her voice laced with concern. "Your own flesh and blood, born of a union you tried to erase."
Andrew's face paled, his eyes wide with fear.
"I know, Mother," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I've thought of nothing else."
Venus shifted uncomfortably, her eyes darting between Andrew and the queen.
"But, Mother, what about the crown prince?" she asked, her voice tinged with worry.
Queen Helena's expression turned stern.
"The crown prince's claim is secure, Venus. But these children...if they are Andrew's, their birthright must be acknowledged."
At the mention of Leslie, Venus's composure faltered.
"Leslie?" Andrew's eyes snapped to Venus. "What does he have to do with this?"
Venus's eyes widened, her secret threatening to surface.
"Nothing, Andrew," she stammered. "Just...concern for the kingdom."
Queen Helena's gaze turned to Venus.
"Venus, you're hiding something. But for now, let us focus on the children. Andrew, you will ensure their safety and legitimacy."
Andrew's face set in determination.
"I will, Mother. But what if...what if they are mine?"
The room fell silent, the weight of secrets and deceit crushing them.
Queen Helena's voice rose, her words a pronouncement of judgment.
"Then, Andrew, you will face the consequences of your actions, and our kingdom's future will be forever changed."
