Chapter 1: The Prodigy and the Fall of the Assassins
From as far back as he could remember, his life had been a routine of death and survival. Born into the darkness of a secret organization of assassins, his purpose in life had been clear from the start: to become the perfect tool for executing orders. By the age of six months, he had already been subjected to extreme physical tests, and before his first birthday, he had begun training with weapons. While other children were just learning to walk, he was already mastering the most basic combat techniques.
But what truly set him apart was not his physical prowess, but his mind. From a young age, he proved to be a prodigious genius, a talent his instructors in the organization recognized immediately. There was no intellectual challenge he couldn't overcome, no skill he couldn't master. Mathematics, engineering, languages, military strategy... every new challenge presented to him was absorbed with superhuman speed. And so, by the age of eight, he was already a lethal assassin and a brilliant strategist.
What he didn't know then was that he himself was a target.
The betrayal came silently, disguised as a simple conversation he wasn't supposed to overhear. He was walking through the corridors of the underground fortress where he had spent his entire life when a group of the organization's high-ranking members were discussing in a nearby room. The echo of their voices reached his ears, and for once, he decided to listen.
"The boy... he's grown too quickly. He's dangerous," said a voice he recognized as the leader of the organization, a man whose cruelty was legendary. "If we let him live, he'll eventually surpass us all. He's loyal to no one but himself, and when he realizes his true potential, we'll be doomed."
"What do you propose?" asked another.
"We must eliminate him. It's the only way to ensure our safety."
The boy felt his blood freeze in his veins. He had been trained to be a killing machine, but also to always think several steps ahead of his enemies. The organization didn't see him as a human being but as a tool that, once sharpened too much, became dangerous.
His thoughts raced. He had spent his entire life training to be the best assassin, but he had never considered that his greatest enemy could be those who raised him. In that moment, he understood what he had to do. He couldn't simply escape. If he wanted to survive, he would have to destroy the organization from the inside.
Over the following weeks, he feigned ignorance. He continued with his daily training, maintaining the facade of absolute loyalty. But in secret, he began plotting. He knew where all the critical facilities were, who the most influential leaders were, and most importantly, he knew the weaknesses of every member of the organization. He used that knowledge to sow discord, causing the leaders to begin suspecting one another.
Chaos erupted quickly. Within days, factions within the organization began fighting among themselves, while he took advantage of every opportunity to eliminate key members without anyone noticing. A poisoning here, an accident there... no one suspected an eight-year-old boy, even one as prodigious as him.
Finally, the day came for him to make his final move. In the heart of the fortress, in the command room where the top brass gathered, he activated the base's self-destruction protocol. He had studied the system thoroughly and knew exactly how to unleash chaos. Within minutes, alarms began blaring, and the assassins who had been his family found themselves trapped in their own fortress.
The boy watched from a safe position as everything collapsed. The organization that had created him was destroyed in a single blow, a victim of its own arrogance and the brilliant mind they had underestimated. When the last explosion shook the base, nothing remained but rubble and corpses.
He had won.
But despite his victory, he felt no satisfaction. Everything he had ever known was gone. Though he had freed himself from the organization's chains, he was now alone in a world he didn't understand. He knew how to kill, how to destroy, but he didn't know how to live.
He wandered for days, surviving on his skills, until one day he encountered a man who observed him with curiosity. This was no ordinary man. His presence commanded respect, and the boy immediately noticed that he was not someone to be taken lightly. The man, with an enigmatic smile, introduced himself as Sakayanagi, the father of Arisu Sakayanagi, one of the most powerful figures in the business and political world.
"Well, I see you're no ordinary child," Sakayanagi commented, watching him with a mix of interest and caution. "I've heard rumors of an assassin organization that was destroyed from within... by a child."
The boy didn't respond immediately. He knew Sakayanagi was not a man he could easily deceive. Finally, with a firm voice, he said, "It was me. I destroyed them."
Sakayanagi smiled. "Impressive. But I see something more in you. You have extraordinary abilities, but also a dangerous mind. I wonder... what will you do now?"
The boy looked at him in silence. He had no answer for that question. His goal had been to destroy the organization, and now that he had achieved it, he found himself aimless.
"I'll make you an offer," Sakayanagi continued, his eyes gleaming with calculated cunning. "You have the talent to survive in this world, but you need direction. My daughter, Arisu, is someone special. She has her own enemies and needs. I want you to be her bodyguard. You'll protect my daughter from any threat, and in return, I'll give you a new life, far from the shadows you grew up in."
The boy pondered for a moment. He knew Sakayanagi's offer wasn't entirely selfless, but he also understood that he needed a purpose. Moreover, after everything he had been through, the idea of protecting someone, of having a new mission, was tempting.
"Alright," he finally replied. "I accept."
Sakayanagi approached, satisfied. "Good. Your life changed today, boy. But remember, even though you're far from the darkness you came from, the world is still a dangerous place. And the mind you possess will be both your greatest blessing and your worst curse."
The boy, now with a new life ahead of him, left behind the rubble of his past. And so began his new path, as the bodyguard of Arisu Sakayanagi, the genius who survived the assassins and found a new purpose in an even more complex world.
