That morning, Serena had decided to skip the dance practice for the Deb ball so her mom could do her portrait.

Serena was sitting on a stool in her deb dress, sweating from the hot sun. "Are we almost done, mom?" she asked.

"Yes, just a little more. I'm almost done, I promise." Susannah smiles continuing to paint the canvas. "So what have you done with your organization?" She questioned.

"Me and a few friends went door to door to raise money for no kids go hungry." Serena smiled. "I raised 2,000 dollars." She added

"That's good. I'm proud of you, honey." Her mom smiled at her. Serena loved her mom's warm and comforting smile. She wouldn't know what to do without it.

"So what's been on your mind?" Susannah asks knowing something is up.

"Nothing why." Serena deflects the question. "I know when something's wrong with my daughter." Susannah raises an eyebrow.

Serena was getting nervous by the way her mom was staring her down. She caved in. "Taylor kissed me." She confessed.

Her mother looked at her wide-eyed. "I wanted to kiss her back, but she was drunk, and she thought I rejected her even though that's not what I meant, and now it's all awkward and I don't know what to do." The curly-haired girl ranted on the verge of tears.

"Oh, my sweet girl." Her mom cooed running over to her and hugging her. Serena cried in her mother's arms.

"She's coming soon; talk to her." Her mother advised. "It will all be okay, I promise." Susannah whispered into the girls curly hair. Serena had a gut feeling it wouldn't all be okay. "Is that all?" Her mother asked.

"Yeah." Serena lied. She didn't want to tell her mom she knew about her cancer; she wasn't ready to face it. "Okay." Her mother spoke, choosing not to press. "I like Taylor by the wave very fiery personality. She seems like a good fit for you" Susannah winked. Serena gave her a small smile.

"I'm all done with your portrait. Go get ready for Belly's game." Her mother spoke, turning to her make shift table to clean up her mess. Serena nodded her head, going inside to go get ready.

Once Serena was all ready for Belly's game, she left her room, running downstairs to the kitchen.

"Hey." Belly called out. Serena looked over at the girl standing behind the counter. "What's up." Serena smiled.

"We have some time before the game. Wanna take a walk on the beach?" She asked.

"Yeah sure." Serena smiled at the thought. The two girls made their way outside to the beach and began walking.

"So-" Serena started. "I kissed Jeremiah, and then I almost kissed Conrad." Belly blurted, interrupting the girl getting it all off her chest. Serena stopped walking frozen in shock.

"What?" she questioned. "Please don't be mad." Belly gulped. "No, no, I'm not mad. Just explain, please." Serena stuttered out trying to wrap her head around what the girl had confessed.

Belly then explained what happened with Conrad on the fourth and Jeremiah the day after. Serena still had no idea where Jeremiah's crush came from.

"What are you going to do?" the curly-haired girl asked. "I don't know." Belly whispered. "I'm sure you'll figure it out." Serena comforted.

Belly nodded her head. "Can I tell you something?" Serena asked the shorter girl. "Of course." Belly smiled. "I kissed Taylor." Serena confessed.

"What!" Belly exclaimed, gasping in shock. "Yeah, the night of the party. but she kissed Steven right after." Serena sighed, looking at her feet as they walked.

"Oh." Belly whispered in understanding. Belly's phone dinged as she looked at the message. "We gotta go Taylor's here." She spoke.

"Race you!" Serena giggled, running off. "No fair!" Belly shouted, running after her.
