Three weeks before Susannah Fisher had died, Serena cried in her arms over her breakup with her girlfriend.

Serena loved Taylor with every fiber of her being, but she didn't have the time or emotional capacity for the girl. Taylor had cried and begged her not to, but she couldn't be what the girl needed.

She had decided to take a gap year to take care of her mother. Susannah was upset at the girl for not living her life, but every time she brought it up, Serena insisted it was okay.

Now staring at her mother's casket made bile rise up in her throat. As she silently cried, she realized she would have no one to take care of her when she was sick, no one to cry to when she had heartbreak, and no one that could give her comfort like her mother could.

She never knew that the time she cried in her mother's arms over her breakup with Taylor would be the last.

After her mother's funeral, she had to endure the reception. She put on her best fake smile and greeted her mother's friends.

She walked through the house, not even having the energy to look at her mother's portrait.

As she came back to the main area, she saw Belly and Conrad in some altercation. She went to go break it up as she heard Belly tell Conrad to go to hell.

"Hey!" she shouted, walking in between them. "Let's take a breather, yeah?" She directed pulling Belly outside to the porch with her.

"Look, I understand you and Conrad have that whole breakup thing going on, and I understand you're grieving, and I understand Conrad can be a real dick, but to tell him to go to hell at his mother's funeral, my mother's funeral." Serena ranted, starting to cry.

"My mother's funeral." She repeated sobbing, being to breakdown. Belly pulled her into her arms, sitting on the ground with her. "I'm sorry. Im sorry," she repeated as she rocked the girl.

That day, Serena had wished it had been her mother's arms she was crying into.

A month after Susannah Fisher's funeral, Serena thought life may have been getting a little better until she got a call from Conrad telling her the beach house was getting sold. The two set off in an attempt to go save it, not telling anyone.
