It was a few days after that and Jon has stayed at my house since he found out. We were on our way to my mom's house...to finally not only pick up Carrie, but to tell my mom.
Jani and I haven't seen or spoken to each other since he fought Jon, and accidentally hit me. If you didn't watch the fight go down the other day, and didn't know the whole story; it looks like Jon and I had fought each other.
I knocked and my mom opened the door, looking at me and then to Jon, moving out of the way so we could come in. Things between my mom and I were still wary. But I knew they were about to get even more fucked. And here's why.
1. She's never met Jon...or Jani
2. She saw me with Jani almost a month ago
3. I was pregnant and pretty much pulling a Ginny minus the being 16 part
"Hey...mom." I started. She still looked between Jon and I. "Whose this?" She said, not wasting any time. I gave her a look and then looked at Jon, looking back to my mom.
"What happened to your faces?" She questioned. I sighed. "A bar fight." She went silent after that, still looking between Jon and I.
"My boyfriend." I told her. She furrowed her eyebrows. "That's not the same guy that was in your car the other day." She stated. I rolled my eyes. "He and I weren't anything, we didn't do anything. He's an ass." I told her.
She nodded, turning her attention to Jon. "Do you have a name?" She asked him. He nodded. "It's Jon, Jon Bon Jovi." He said with a small smile and held out his hand for her to shake.
She squinted and stared at him, hesitant to shake his hand. She did nonetheless. "I'm Mary, Lori's mom." My mom replied. "Nice meeting you." Jon smiled. My mom gave him a small nod.
And just like that the conversation between he and my mom dissolved. "I assume you're here for Carrie, she's taking a nap." My mom told me. I nodded, furrowing my own eyebrows. How the fuck do I go about this?
"Yeah... we're here for Carrie-but there's something else...another reason for why we're here." I told my mom nervously. "Well what?" She asked. I sighed and couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Jon-and I, well...w-I'm pregnant." I stumbled. My mom closed her eyes in disappointment. "Did you learn nothing from your sister?" She asked.
I stared at her. "Mom, I'm not Ginny. I didn't get pregnant by a shitty fucking guy when I was 16 and then run away after my daughter was born. I've done nothing but be there for Carrie, a kid who isn't even my own, but goddammit she might as well be. And I be fucking damned if I end up anything like my sister. I'm not walking away!" I said to her pissed as she pretty much compared me to Ginny again.
My mom stared at me with wide eyes, tearing her eyes away from me and then looking at Jon. "What about you?" She questioned as she folded her arms over her chest.
My mom and I both stared at Jon. I too wanted to hear his answer. Yeah, he told me this was a good thing when I told him, but I wanted to know-needed to know is he was 100% gunna be there.
He looked at my mom seriously. "Of course yeah. I love Lori. And I know this wasn't exactly planned, but it being Lori and I, I'm actually really happy. I can't wait to be a dad to this little person that'll be like a little version mixed of the both of us. And as for Lori? I know she'll be an amazing mom, I mean just look at how she raised and is raising Carrie? We and our soon to be family will be just fine. Cause like Lori, I'm not walkin' away either." He ranted seriously, looking into my eyes as he said the last bit.
I smiled. And it surprised me when my mom smiled too. "Alrighty then." She said. I breathed out a sigh of relief. She then turned and looked at me, a squint in her eye. "Is he 100% the father...sure it not the other dude?" She said.
My eyes went wide. "Mom, what the hell! I already told you he and I weren't anything and we didn't do anything!" I yelled, pissed she'd even bring that up.
She then laughed as she put a hand on my arm. "I'm joking sweetie." She said. I then laughed awkwardly.
After a little bit, Jon and my mom talked about random shit. Apparently my mom liked him, so that's good. Eventually Carrie woke up and Jon and I started our way home...well we were gunna go home, but I took a detour.
"Where are you going?" Jon asked me. I smiled a big smile. "You'll see." I said. He left it at that.
I drove to an adoption center. Carrie was 100% mine.
We talked to a counselor and she talked to Carrie a bit and eventually she handed me paperwork and gave me a list of stuff I'd need to bring back.
I nodded and thanked her. We then drove home. I filled out all the paperwork and got everything on the list. Carries birth certificate, social security card, some other paperwork and eventually I had everything.
I'd drop it off tomorrow.
It was late now and Carrie was asleep, Jon was staying over.
I was on the couch going through the paperwork and making sure I had everything. He down next to me. "You're serious about this." He smiled. I nodded. I turned to look at him. "My sister and I are three years apart. I took the roll of mother from her the second she left and didn't come back. Carrie is my daughter, might as well make it official." I shrugged.
Jon put an arm around me. "You are her mom. I knew that from the swing I saw her run to you in the diner." He told me. I nodded with a small smile on my face. "Yeah." I said.
Jon looked at me, a smile on his face. "I meant it, what I said at your mom's. You are gunna be a great mom to our baby. Cause Carrie? She's a great kid and is glad to have a mom like you." He told me.
I smiled and kissed him briefly. I out the paperwork back into a neat pile and both of us went to bed and fell asleep.

This was great, but neither one of them knew how badly they wanted other people from their pasts, whether their pasts were still present or not. Lori, unknowingly wanting Jani Lane, and as for Jon, his high school sweetheart.
