On Through The Night

When Carrie and I got home, I turned on some Looney Tunes and put her in the living room with a few toys.

That should keep her occupied long enough for me to take a shower. After my shower, I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around myself then walked into the living room.

"Hey Care." I said as I walked in. "Hi!" She said as she played with her doll while simultaneously watching Bugs Bunny. "Can you go into your room, grab your book bag and put some toys and stuffed animals in it?" I questioned her.

She looked at me confused. "For why?" She questioned. "You're going to go hang out with Heather's mom for a few hours." I told her. She shrugged and stopped what she was doing. "Okay." Is all she said as she got up and walked to her room.

That was was easier than I thought it would be. As Carrie got stuff she wanted to take with her, I finished getting ready.

When we were both ready to go, we walked out and I locked the door. I put her in her car seat and I got in.

I eventually ended up at Heather's. "Holy shit Lori, you are hot!" She said as I walked in. Her mom was already at Heather's  apartment. "Carrie and I are going to have such a fun time. We may even bake cookies!" Ms. Renolds told me.

Carrie got excited and ran straight over to her. She never really was afraid of strangers, which is both a good and bad thing.

We said our goodbyes and then Heather and I went to my car. She turned up the radio as Wild Side by Mötley Crüe started playing. We both obnoxiously sang along to it.

Eventually we got to the Whiskey and I looked at my watch. "We're here early" I told Heather. She shrugged and undid her seat belt. "Then we got a little time to get some drinks before the boys get here." She said.

I rolled my eyes at the thought of me having to see Jani again. Nonetheless I got out of the car and followed Heather inside.

We sat at the bar and started ordering drinks.

I decided that if I was at least a little bit tipsy then tolerating Jani would go a lot smoother. So I ordered my drink and 3 shots and drank em all.

Heather just stared at me. "I'm all for drinking, but Lor, are you okay?" She questioned. I nodded. Since high school Heather and I both liked to drink and party, but ever since I became half responsible for my niece and started working my way to get to college, I just naturally slowed down a little.

"I'm fine, I just don't feel like being around Jani. That guy is an ass." I told her matter of factly. She shrugged as the bar tender gave her her drink. "I think Steven's pretty nice." She said.

I turned to look at her. "Heather, I have no clue which one of them that is. I only know Jani, unfortunately." I replied. She didn't say anything, she shrugged.

I ordered another drink. Heather and I sat there sipping on our drinks and talking when the door opened and several people walked in. I turned my attention towards the door and there was Jani, along with his friends.

Fuck this.

They started walking towards us, one of them going to stand next to Heather. She smiled at him. "Steven, this is Lori, Lori this is Steven-Steven Sweet." Heather said as she introduced he and I.

He said Hey to me I returned the gesture.

"Oh, and this is Erik Turner, Joey Allen, Jerry Dixon, and you already know Jani-Jani Lane." Steven said as he introduced Heather and I to everyone else.

I was mentally rolling my eyes when Steven got down to Jani, saying that he and I already knew each other. Steven sat on the other side of Heather, she immediately turning all her attention to him. I sighed, there goes my reason for being at this bar at all.

I surprisingly didn't see Jani, but it did kind of surprise me when Erik sat next to me. "Not feeling tonight?" He asked like he actually wanted to know.

I looked at him sideways before turning back to my drink. "Something like that." I told him honestly. He seemed nice. "Sorry, for earlier, my band can be dicks." He said.

I couldn't help when a laugh escaped my mouth. "What's so funny?" Erik questioned. "If you guys are in a band then your behavior totally makes sense now." I said as I shook my head.

"I'm surprised I didn't know before, I mean with how you guys act and dress? When you walked into the diner earlier I totally thought you guys were just a wanna be Mötley or Ratt." I told Erik honestly.

He laughed at that. "Ah, you know your bands." He said like he was impressed. I smiled with a nod. Erik was cool, he wasn't an ass like Jani, it was easy to talk to him.

We sat there for minute just sipping on our drinks when the intro to one of my favorite songs started playing and with my being a tad tipsy, I got really excited.

I threw down the rest of my drink and stood up. "Where you going?" Erik asked me. I smiled a probably way too big smile at him. "Going to dance, a little Def Leppard never hurt nobody, Erik." I told him as Mirror Mirror(Look Into My Eyes) was playing.

"Am I allowed to dance with you?" He asked with a smile. I nodded. "Two is a party." He chuckled a little and got up, following me to go to dance.

Erik and I were dancing to the song, and not like school dance shit or cheesy slow dances. We were feeling the music. In all honesty it was fun. I thought this night would be shit, but Jani was where ever and Erik was actually really nice.

I was in the middle of dancing with Erik when I saw Jani emerge from the bathrooms. He was scanning the room until his eyes fell on mine.

He saw I was dancing with Erik and I don't
Know if it was me being tipsy or what, but I could of sworn that he looked let down or something. I shrugged it off best I could and continued to have a nice time.

I couldn't help but think about what was up with Jani on through the night.
