MAXINE'S POV
Ako, si Cole, si Skye, and si Gian, were determined to handle this on our own. No one else could be trusted. Not even our families.
But my mind kept drifting back to her.....
I didn’t know why she was on my mind so much lately, simula nang mag kita kami sa airport hindi na siya mawala wala sa isip ko.
We weren’t even that close. In fact, after everything that had happened with our families, we were more like strangers caught in the same storm.
My foot instinctively let up on the gas as I slowed down, keeping my distance.
What was she doing out here by herself? There's no way na hahayaan siya ng matandang alvarez na mag pagala gala sa kalsada.
Something didn’t sit right with me. I didn’t know what was going on with her family, but even I could tell this wasn’t normal.
I parked the car a little further down the road, keeping my eye on her. She is heading towards the park, her steps slowdown na para bang hindi niya alam kung saan siya pupunta.
I didn’t want to get involved. But watching her like this, something tugged at me. Maybe it was curiosity.
Or maybe it was that strange feeling of responsibility I couldn’t seem to shake.
I leaned back in my seat, trying to decide what to do. Leave her alone? Or make sure she was okay?
Before I could make up my mind, movement in the shadows caught my attention.
Figures, moving in the dark. I tensed, scanning the area. They weren’t just passing by. They were circling her.
I didn’t know what was going on, but one thing was clear they were after her.
Before I could stop myself, I was out of the car, my instincts taking over. Whether I wanted to or not, I had to help her.
Aiesha still hadn’t noticed the figures moving toward her, mukhang wala parin siya sa sarili..
"F*ck" I cursed under my breath, my heart pounding as I closed the distance between us.
I didn’t know who these guys were, but it didn’t take a genius to figure out they weren’t just random passersby.
The way they moved, creeping through the shadows, eyes locked on Aiesha, this was a setup. I could feel it.
"Aiesha!"
She turned, startled, her eyes widened when she saw me. For a split second, confusion flashed across her face.
We hadn’t talked much since the gala, hell, we weren’t exactly friends.
"Behind you!" I shouted, already moving towards her.
Her head whipped around just as one of the men stepped forward from the shadows, a knife glinting in his hand.
