Third Person's POV
"Max?" Aiesha’s voice was soft and hesitant.
Maxine stepped inside, closing the door behind her. She couldn't delay it any longer.
“I need to tell you something,” Maxine began, her voice low and filled with tension. Her hands trembled slightly as she reached out to take Aiesha’s hand, needing to feel her warmth, her presence, before everything unraveled.
Aiesha’s eyes widened, fear flickering in them as she grasped Maxine’s hand tighter. “What’s going on?”
Maxine took a deep breath, steeling herself. “It’s about your father… and the attack on my mom.”
The color drained from Aiesha’s face, and she shook her head in confusion. “What are you talking about?”
Maxine’s chest tightened. “The men who shot my mom… they were from the Alvarez organization.” She struggled to say the words, each one feeling like a knife in her throat. “They’re connected to your father.”
No… that can’t be true.”
“It is,” Maxine whispered, her voice breaking. “We have the evidence.”
Aiesha’s face crumbled as tears welled up in her eyes. “No, Max. This can’t be happening.”
“I’m so sorry, Aiesha,” Maxine said, her own voice cracking now. “I didn’t want to tell you. I wanted to protect you from this, but I couldn’t keep it from you any longer.”
Aiesha sobbed, her hands covering her face as her body trembled with the force of her emotions. “Why would my father do this? Why would he—”
“I don’t know,” Maxine interrupted gently, her own tears threatening to spill. “But I swear, Aiesha, I will protect you from all of this. I don’t care what it takes.”
Aiesha looked up at her through tear-filled eyes, her lips trembling as she whispered, “I’m sorry, Max. I’m so sorry.”
The sound of Aiesha apologizing shattered something inside Maxine. Hindi niya kayang makita na nasasaktan ang dalaga, dahil kung nasasaktan ito mas nasasaktan siya para rito, “Aiesha, you don’t have to apologize for anything. None of this is your fault.”
“It is Max! Daddy ko....Daddy ko yung dahilan kung bakit ka nasasaktan, daddy ko ang dahilan kung bakit nasa critical ang mommy mo! Daddy ko Max!" Turan nito habang walang tigil sa pag patak ang mga luha nito
Ayoko nito, ayoko na nakikita ko siyang umiiyak mas ako yung nasasaktan eh. I reached for her hand, but she pulled away, standing up and pacing the room, her breathing ragged.
Tears filled her eyes, and she hugged herself tightly, as if trying to protect herself from the truth.
In that moment, I couldn’t hold back anymore. I crossed the room in a few quick steps and gently cupped her face in my hands. She looked at me, her eyes filled with so much hurt and confusion, but also with love.
Aiesha’s breath hitched, her lips trembling as our faces were just inches apart. May gusto pa siyang sabihin sana pero bago pa niya masabi yon, I already closed the distance and kissed her.
I will gladly do this everyday...
It was soft at first, gentle, as if I was afraid she might break. But the moment our lips met, it felt like the world stopped. All the pain, the fear, the uncertainty.....they all melted away in that kiss.
Aiesha kissed me back, her hands reaching up to grip my arms, pulling me closer. For a moment, it felt like everything would be okay, like we could weather any storm as long as we had each other.
Agad niya kong tinapik sa balikat at hinihingal na umatras, “Maxine... we can’t,” she said, her voice shaky. “There’s too much happening. What if... what if everything falls apart?”
I shook my head, refusing to let go. “I don’t care. I don’t care about anything else but you.”
She stared at me, her eyes searching mine for answers. “But...”
I silenced her with another kiss, this time deeper, more urgent. I poured all of my emotions into that kiss, letting her feel just how much I loved her, how much I needed her.
Aiesha melted into my arms, her resistance fading as she kissed me back with just as much passion. The intensity of it was overwhelming, like we were both desperate to hold on to this moment, knowing the chaos that surrounded us.
When we finally broke apart, gasping for breath, I rested my forehead against hers, my hands still gently cradling her face. “I love you,” madamdamin kong saad sa kanya, hinding hindi ako mag sasawa na sabihin sa kanya kung ga ano ko siya ka mahal....“And I’ll protect you, no matter what.”
Aiesha nodded, her eyes shining with tears. “I love you too, Max.”
We stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, wrapped up in each other, knowing that the world outside was falling apart, but for now, in this moment, we were together.
And that was all that mattered.
