"Ta da~!" Lucas proudly grinned as he presented the computer in front of Jennie. "See? I told you! I am reliable! I even set it up for you!"
Jennie glanced at the proud brother-in-law before shifting her eyes toward the computer set behind him. She had just arrived from the prison, and the moment she came, Lucas had already set up the computer. That was quite fast, but considering she stayed longer with Andrea because that criminal prioritized her food until Jennie's warning.
"Thanks, Lucas." She smiled in satisfaction, marching toward the computer set that Lucas had set up in the master's bedroom. Jennie simply checked the wirings, nodding. "Everything's good."
"Sis, did you send me to pick this up because you want to go out alone?" Lucas placed his hands on his hips. "Now I feel like a nuisance."
"It's not like that." She chuckled, planting her hand on top of the monitor. "I just have to buy something, and I didn't want to bother you anymore. So, I went out to get it."
"Is it the buns?"
"Yes." Jennie nodded, keeping her smile. Fortunately, she bought something on the way home just to justify her agenda outside in case someone asked. "It's the buns. Now, I'll change first."
"Oh... okay." Lucas shrugged awkwardly. "Will you come out after?"
No.
The side of her lips stretched until it reached her eyes. "Ask Bear to play with you for a moment. I'll be very busy."
"Busy? What are you going to..." Lucas trailed off as Jennie marched toward him, spinning him around as she pushed him out. "Hey, sis. You don't have to push me away like this. What are you going to do when you have all the time in the world?"
Lucas turned around once again once he stood outside the door, frowning. "Is it true you don't want to hang out with me anymore?"
She was reconsidering her life decisions now.
"No, it's not," she denied with a smile. "I have to prepare for the filming tomorrow. So, I need to memorize my lines. After all, this is probably my last film."
"Your last film... sis! Are you thinking of retiring?"
Jennie didn't answer and just smiled. "I'm still reconsidering. So, don't disturb me for now, okay?"
"Uh... okay...?" Lucas blinked as he hadn't finished his sentence when Jennie shut the door on him. "She's thinking of retiring? I thought this film was her comeback?"
Lucas gazed at the door with curiosity, but he didn't dwell on it for a long time.
"Well, that means she can focus on me if she's not working." His lips stretched from ear to ear, spinning before yelling. "Dara, can you prepare me some snacks? Also, call Bear! We're going to watch a movie!"
*******
Meanwhile, Jennie rested her back against the door as soon as she locked it behind her. Her eyes were sharp, landing on the computer set in the corner of the room.
'I didn't tell him to set it up here, but I guess this room is the safest place for this,' she thought, peeling her back from the door and then trudged toward the computer. 'Lisa wouldn't go through this PC, so I guess it's good to put it here.'
There were other available rooms in the penthouse. However, only the master's bedroom was the room only a few had access to. Even Lucas wasn't allowed inside the master's bedroom, but that man had a bad habit of crossing boundaries.
Jennie dragged the chair and sat in front of the computer. Lucas had already turned it on, so she only needed to navigate her way to the system. With the knowledge of the sketch and Primo's existence, Jennie searched for any leads that were connecting Primo and Marcus Manoban.
If Andrea Ng wasn't lying, then the person who manipulated her to exact her vengeance was that man working for Primo. Jennie wasn't so foolish as to not consider Primo had no involvement in it. For sure, Primo's assistant worked at Primo's behest.
It was better working on the computer than on the smaller version of the program on her phone. As expected, the first results only showed Primo's current business ventures.
"He owned that resort, huh?" she whispered, recognizing one of Primo's properties. "That isn't a coincidence, for sure."
Her face sharpened at the thought, digging for more information regarding Primo. Much to her dismay, even if Jennie was able to dig for more information about the man, they were all irrelevant.
"Damn it." Jennie threw her back against the chair, arms extended as her hands remained on the keyboard. "There's nothing. Even his background is clean."
This wasn't the first time Jennie faced such a tricky case as Jane. There were elusive felons out in the underground where even the emperor's eyes couldn't get. Therefore, she would usually send people to infiltrate an enemy's den to get more information.
These cases were the ones she disliked the most, as they often took time.
"I can't send Bear to him." Jennie rested her elbows on the armchair, linking her hands together as she pondered deeply about it. "And I can't make direct contact with those guys anymore. Even if I send Bear and tell him to ask for their help, it'll just complicate things."
'Today... I finally see the cons in living as Jennie Kim.'— unlike Jane, Jennie was an easy target.
Almost everything about Jennie Kim was public knowledge. The only thing that the public didn't know about her was her marriage to Lisa Manoban and having a kid together. Jane wasn't like that. Although there were people who knew about Jane's existence, not many knew what she looked like. After all, those who had seen Jane up close had long since dead.
"For sure, he knows who..." Jennie trailed off as she narrowed her eyes, staring at the monitor screen that was showing Primo's sacred profile.
A glint flickered across her eyes as the corner of her mouth curled up into a smirk.
"Hah..." a laugh slipped past her lips, leaning against the desk to look at Primo's picture up close. "How did I not think about that, huh? I don't need to send Bear to deal with you, Mr. Song. Jennie Kim is enough."
