No.
Oh, how many times was this word said tonight?
Some uttered it in denial and pain, but others, just like Manager Chu, used it for her defense.
"No! How many times do I have to tell you!?" Manager Chu growled inside the interrogation room. Since she was the prime suspect, they immediately took her to this place like some sort of criminal when she was given first aid.
"I didn't do it! It was Lea! You can check my phone!" Manager Chu yelled in exasperation, flexing her fingers at the handcuffs that were attached to the table. "She told me to go there! She's setting me up!"
"Miss Marisol Chu." The officer leaned back, keeping his cool despite the suspect's aggressiveness. "You do understand that this case just turned into a homicide, right?"
"What?" Manager Chu blanked. "But... Jennie was still alive!"
The detective arched his brows. "Still alive when you knocked her out?"
"No!" she denied immediately. "I told you! Please, believe me! Lea asked me to go there! She told me to check the living area because she needs my help with something, but when I went to the living area, Jennie was already there!"
Manager Chu wanted to pinch the bridge of her nose, but she was handcuffed. Thus, she rested her forehead against the surface of the table, knocking her head slightly against it to release her frustration.
"Lea had set me up!" she repeated when she raised her head. "You have to believe me. I got nothing against Jennie Kim, but Lea has many things against her! You got the wrong person, officer! Please... believe me. Or at least, investigate Lea. She's insane!"
"But Manager Chu, weren't you supposed to be in Miss Jung's unit even before Jennie Kim?"
"Huh?"
"The nurse who was supposed to replace Miss Jung's IV informed us that you were present that morning and may remain there until the IV runs out, due to Miss Jung possibly still being asleep." The detective said. "Yet, you claim you came to Miss Jung's place because she asked you to?"
Manager Chu's heart sank at the officer's remarks. Now, her credibility just... disappeared because her claim appeared like a blatant lie.
How could she forget?
Now, everything she would say would sound like an excuse.
"No," whispered Manager Chu. "I left Lea because we argued."
"Argued?" the officer cocked his head to the side. "Are you saying you have the reason to blame Miss Jung if only you weren't caught red-handed?"
"No..." Manager Chu slowly clasped her hand together, feeling her heart sinking as things were slowly pinning her as the culprit. "I'm not a murderer. Please believe me. I didn't do that to Jennie Kim. I wanted to call the ambulance when I saw her in the living room, but when I was looking for my phone... my phone!"
Manager Chu perked up as the light in her eyes returned. "You'll see her message there. She asked me to come to her place. I'm sure if you check my phone, you'll see it there!"
"Please, detective." She moved closer to the table, staring at the man across from her. "I know it's hard to believe, but I'm innocent. You got the wrong person. Lea... she is the real person who murdered Jennie. Lea had always been jealous of Jennie and she's been on drugs! She was high this morning and nearly overdosed! You can double-check all of this. I swear! I'll bet my leg on it! She's an addict and had bipolar disorder!"
"Manager Chu." The detective let out a sigh as he looked at her as if he could see through her lies. "The phone you were talking about... is in your car, yes?"
"Yes!"
"We already retrieved it, but there isn't a message from Jung Lea that you are talking about. And about her medical records, aside from the overfatigue and stress, she's clear."
"What?" This time, the detective's last remarks squashed down all the remaining hope in the manager's heart. "Are you... sure?"
"Hundred percent." The detective nodded.
"Impossible." Manager Chu shook her head as she gazed down. "How did she do that?"
"The CCTV footage!" she yelled, looking back at the person across from her. "Have you checked the CCTV footage? You'll find me coming in..."
"Miss Chu, you will not be sitting in here if we don't have enough evidence to detain you in here." This time, the detective's tone was cold and authoritative, as if he was done playing games with the suspect. "We had seen the CCTV footage and the only time you were there is this morning. You were never seen going out."
"No."
"If you want a lighter sentence, you should confess what you had done."
Manager Chu shook her head, rendered speechless at everything she just heard. How did that happen? That was impossible. Lea wasn't that cunning and even if she was, Manager Chu was certain Lea wouldn't have thought that far with how unstable she was earlier.
"I want a lawyer," was Manager Chu's last words before she completely shut herself, keeping her silence to buy herself some time.
Meanwhile, as Manager Chu shut in, Bear, who was in the other room watching the interrogation, exuded a menacing aura. His hand on his side was balled into a tight fist, keeping silent, but obviously garnering the attention of the officers in the same room as him.
"It's not her," Bear breathed out, his eyes still on Manager Chu. "You should dig deeper, officers. You got the wrong person."
'Don't make me get my hands on the culprit first. I will shred them all into pieces.'

Meanwhile, in the garden of the hospital where Jennie was rushed in...
Primo was drinking from a straw, enjoying a carton of chocolate milk drink. His eyes were squinting, in a great mood that contrasted everyone's night.
"Boss." His brows rose when his righthand man, Elmo, came from behind him. "Is that even necessary?"
"Hmm?" Primo hummed as he looked back, only to see Elmo's frown.
"Why did you help Jung Lea? Didn't you say you're done with her?"
"Well, yes, but she did a good job today. So, I don't mind giving her a helping hand." Primo grinned.
"Also, it makes things more interesting!"
