"That damn brat. How dare he show up here after what he did to Lucas? Surely, he's taking after his father. Hmph!"

Deep lines appeared between Jennie's brows at Grandma Manoban's grumpy mumbling.

'Brat?' she wondered, instinctively thinking of Marcus Manoban's son, Eric Manoban. 'What did he do to Lucas?'

Her mind immediately rewound the happenings from the previous months. Jennie could only think of one thing that happened to Lucas, and that was he got some problems with his company. It didn't interest her that much since Lucas needed to do something else other than bug her every single day. Still, Lisa vaguely gave her an idea, but not enough information for her to worry about.

"Uh?" Grandma Manoban arched a brow and then turned her head, only to see Jennie standing a few steps from her. Her grumpy countenance turned into delight when she saw her granddaughter-in-law.

"Little Jennie, you're here?" Grandma Manoban planted her hands on the armrest, snapping Jennie back to the current lapse.

"Grandma," she called as she hurried to the old madam's side, holding the latter's arm to support her. "Butler Fu said you were waiting for me, so I came. I knocked, but no one answered, so I came to check if everything was alright. I hope you didn't mind, Grandma."

"Haha. Of course, I don't." Grandma Manoban chuckled, tapping Jennie's hand that was supporting her. "It's just that Grandma is getting old. I probably didn't hear you."

Jennie smiled, assisting the old madam to the set of couches. Once Grandma Manoban was seated, Jennie sat on the long couch on Grandma Manoban's right.

"When Lisa called me the other day and told me you were coming, I got so excited," Grandma Manoban expressed with a hearty chuckle. "But then, knowing my grandson, he might change his mind. So, I told Butler Fu to wait for you outside and make sure my little Jennie goes straight to me. He might not let you go throughout the party if I didn't plan ahead of time."

A short laugh escaped Jennie's curled lips, assessing the old woman sitting on the one-seater couch. She secretly bit her tongue, telling herself this wasn't the perfect time to ask about Eric Manoban.

"So, your husband is already entertaining the guests?" asked Grandma Manoban, making Jennie's brows elevate a bit.

"Yes, Grandma. He didn't want to let me go earlier, but I guess Butler Fu managed to coax him."

"Butler Fu is such a great man." Grandma Manoban nodded approvingly. "Have I told you he had been working for me even before I got married?"

"Really?"

"My husband used to be a little jealous of him, but that fool is only scared of his own ghost."

Jennie pressed her lips into a thin line, keeping her thoughts to herself. Although she wasn't the person to pry, she asked Lisa about his grandfather. All Lisa said was that he never met his grandfather and was not interested in him.

When she asked why, Lisa only answered because his grandfather was a womanizer. Hearing that comment, Jennie immediately understood she didn't want to touch the subject further. Lisa was fine with telling her the things he knew, but she wasn't that interested in the dead. Thus, she changed the topic.

This was her first time hearing Grandma Manoban's husband from the woman herself, though.

"Ugh... what an unpleasant topic to start the conversation." Grandma Manoban hissed before she smiled gently at Jennie. "Little Jennie, how was your trip here?"

"It was good, Grandma. Thanks to Lisa, he kept me... entertained."

"Haha. Good, good. That boy is finally learning how to please his wife."

"Grandma, Lisa always does his best to make me happy," she asserted in a benign tone. "Even after everything, he's always patient with me and I'm always grateful for that."

Grandma Manoban looked at Jennie but didn't leave any side comment. She simply rocked her head before a question came out of her mouth.

"When you came here, did you meet someone?" she tilted her head to the side.

"I saw some people, but I didn't get to talk to them because Butler Fu escorted me here." Jennie scratched her jaw with her index, observing the old madam before adding, "Though I got to have a brief exchange with someone."

She bit her lips as reluctance flickered across her eyes. Despite Grandma Manoban's old age, she easily noticed the hesitation in Jennie's eyes.

"Little Jennie, do not worry about anything you say to me." Grandma Manoban smiled warmly. "Do you not trust Grandma?"

"Of course, I trust Grandma. You've been looking after us, and I'm always grateful for how you take care of me and Lisa and Jevy. But I'm just afraid you will not like my question."

"You are family, Jennie." Grandma Manoban asserted, tapping her armrest a little. "And because you are part of this family, it's already given that you have the right to question this family, and you are entitled to have answers."

Jennie paused before finally mentioning the topic that caught her interest.

"Back there, I met someone," she began quietly. "At first glance, I was surprised because he resembled Lisa. It's the first time I've seen him, Grandma. And I don't recall anyone mentioning him, but when I came here, I didn't intend to overhear your comment regarding someone who did something to Lucas."

"Ahh... so, you heard that?"

"I didn't mean to, Grandma."

"Haha. Why are you frowning, my sweet girl?" Grandma Manoban's heart melted at seeing the frown on Jennie's face. "Grandma is not angry. It's only natural for you to have questions. Had Lisa mentioned that his father has a twin brother?"

"Yes." Her voice was barely above a whisper, nodding. "He also mentioned what happened at that time."

Grandma Manoban smiled in satisfaction as she could tell that his grandson and Jennie were truly getting along more than well. After all, Lisa wouldn't mention that part of his childhood or that person unless the person he would share it with was someone he trusted.

"Eric is his son. It's strange how they look alike as if they were almost twins, but I guess that is normal." Grandma Manoban let out a sigh of relief. "But it's still a little problematic situation, especially since Eric was a mischievous child. The problem with their resemblance got so bad that I had to send Eric abroad."

"What did he do, Grandma?"

Another huff slipped past Grandma Manoban, snapping her wrinkly eyes to the beautiful lady on the long couch before her lips parted to give Jennie a brief summary.
