When the doctors came around, they immediately checked Jennie's well-being with extra caution and care. At this time, Old Madam Manoban, together with Butler Fu, arrived with a bunch of food containers. Arriving just minutes after them was the lovely couple, Marco Manoban and his wife, Chittip.
All of them stayed on the side, watching the doctor flash some light in Jennie's eyes, and then moving on to check the inside of her mouth. Jennie behaved herself and simply went with the flow. Once the doctor finished and faced the family, Lisa perked up as he waited for what the doctor would say. Not just Lisa, but everyone looked at the doctor attentively.
"It's... a miracle," were the first words that came out of Doctor Huo's mouth, opening his hand before a resident doctor handed him a folder that contained Jennie's scan. He opened it to take another look at the scan he had been staring at all night.
"Miss Kim's vitals were all normal..." he explained, taking out the scan and simply glancing at it. "According to her CT Scan, her head injury... was also gone. Everything is well, which is a miracle and strange. It was as if she didn't have any head injury in the first place. However, the medical committee still decided to extend her stay because she needs to go through more thorough checkups..."
Doctor Huo didn't waste a breath in explaining what the board had said regarding the incident. The Manoban family were VVIP clients and thus, with Grandma Manoban's complaints, they were taking matters more seriously. Moreover, this also required a lot more investigation.
After all, they pronounced Jennie Kim dead, only for her to come back alive.
The doctors present in the emergency room knew from the bottom of their hearts they didn't make the wrong call. It wasn't a false alarm. They were all certain because they did their best to revive her to life, but she already lost a lot of blood even before she arrived at the hospital.
It was already lucky Jennie had even reached the hospital alive. Despite those facts laid out, the reality was different.
Jennie was alive, and the results that came back defied science.
"I don't care." As the doctor explained further details to the family, Lisa waved dismissively and rushed to Jennie. "As long as she's okay, I don't care what happened."
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Lisa held Jennie's hand gently. His eyes shone with relief and deep affection, assessing the gentle smile on her face.
"Do what needs to be done, but that doesn't change the fact my wife is okay." He nodded at her reassuringly, making her smile stretched even wider. "As long as this wouldn't hurt her, she can stay until she fully recovered. I don't care how much it costs."
"That's right!" Old Madam Manoban nodded in agreement. "I don't care whose fault it is, but as long as all these tests wouldn't hurt little Jennie, then do what needs to be done. But this time, make sure everything is accurate unless you truly want this to be personal."
The doctor smiled at the old madam helplessly and then shifted his attention to Lisa. "Mr. Manoban, I'm really sorry for last night. Miss Kim, I apologize for --"
"Mrs." Jennie corrected with a smile. "Don't worry, doctor. I know you tried your best. I really do."
Her eyes softened, a bit sorry for the doctor that he was being pressured and under stress because of her. After all, this doctor didn't give up on her, even when her heart was already in a flat line for five minutes straight. He kept resuscitating her even when all the doctors and nurses around stopped, and he only stopped when his colleague tapped his shoulder.
Jennie... or rather, Jane didn't have enough trust in doctors and people in the medical field. Matter of fact, she had a lot of things against them. However, last night gave her a different understanding of these people. They were heroes. Though not superhuman as she wanted them to be, but their dedication to saving lives was inspiring.
They were trying and delivering the horrible news wasn't something they wouldn't get used to. At least, that was what she witnessed last night.
"Thank you, Doctor," she expressed from the bottom of her heart. "For not giving up on me."
Doctor Huo stared at Jennie with slight surprise before a relieved smile appeared on his face. The doctor had been under a lot of stress because of what happened, but hearing those kind words somehow warmed his heart. No wonder the Manoban family loved this woman.
"Very well. I'll leave you for now. Please rest and do not overexert yourself, Missus Manoban." The doctor offered her a kind smile, bowing, before bidding the elders of the Manoban family farewell. But before they could leave, their steps stopped at Lisa's call.
"Doctor Huo," called Lisa, and the doctors turned back, only to see Lisa and Jevin, and Lucas bowing deeply at them. "Thank you for taking care of my wife."
"Thank you, doctors, for saving my mommy!" Jevin expressed.
"You guys rock!"
The doctors, who had been working under pressure, couldn't help but smile. They did nothing, but they appreciated this gesture from them. They also bowed before they went on their way.
Meanwhile, seeing this, Marco Manoban and Chittip Manoban couldn't help but smile while holding each other. Pride was evident in their eyes, pleased to see the three getting even closer. Old Madam Manoban didn't react much, but she kept her gaze on his boys.
'These brats...' she thought, only to snap her grumpy eyes at Butler Fu, who was chuckling at her reaction.
Jennie smiled at her husband, son, and Lucas. She had avoided her in-laws' gaze since the beginning, but eventually, she focused on the three without stressing much about meeting her in-laws under such strange circumstances.
Knock knock.
Just when the doctors exited, Kim Jisoo knocked on the open door. Everyone turned their heads to Jisoo, only to notice the solemn look on his face.
"I'm sorry for interrupting, but sir, a moment?" Jisoo raised his brows, eyes on Lisa.
The look on Lisa's face slightly changed, but he maintained a smile as he faced Jennie. "I'll just talk to Jisoo for a moment, alright?"
"Alright." Jennie smiled, nodding.
And with that, Lisa pushed himself away from the mattress. He glanced at Jevin, and the latter already rushed to the bed where they were.
"Mommy~! Let's eat grandma's cooking together!" Lisa helped his son get up to the bed before beckoning a neck bow to his elders.
Seeing the hidden fire in his eyes, Butler Fu smiled while the elders pretended they didn't see it.
"I'll get the table ready," said Butler Fu, keeping everyone busy while Lisa went out to settle some matters regarding the people involved in the incident.
