After sending Lucas away to run an errand for her, Jennie prepared herself to leave. Since Bear was with her, no one stopped her from leaving with an excuse she would go shopping. Standing in the lift, Bear couldn't help but glance over his shoulder as Jennie stood behind him.

"The master gave out an order," he said, breaking the silence in the elevator. Bear glanced at the numbers above the door, only to see they were almost on the 60th floor. "It seemed the 60th floor will be vacant soon."

"That's so like him." Bear looked back at Jennie with her nonchalant answer, only to see her leaning against the wall. "Bear, that person isn't just a stalker."

Deep lines appeared between his brows, walking on the same spot to look at her properly. "He isn't just a stalker?"

"That's what my instincts were telling me." Jennie lifted her eyes at the numbers above the door, seeing that they already went past the 60th floor. "That's our agenda today. I want to confirm if this man had some sort of connection with Andrea Ng."

"Didn't you say Marcus Manoban might be the mastermind?" The confusion in Bear's eyes glowed.

"I did, but not personally. Maybe someone connected to him."

Bear lowered his gaze, bearing this stern expression. Seeing that look on his face, Jennie arched a brow.

"How was your progress in the thing I asked?" she asked, watching Bear look back at her. "After a lot of thinking, I considered you investigated Marcus Manoban on your vacation leave."

"I did." Bear held her gaze sternly. "He's dead."

Jennie arched a brow before rocking her head. "Is he?"

"Won't you ask me how he died?"

"A hole in the head?" Jennie guessed, making his pupils dilate for a bit. "Haha. It was a wild guess. I didn't know I was right."

"You never ceased to surprise me, young madam."

"The surprise comes from the fact you kept underestimating me, Bear." Jennie shrugged, folding her arms underneath her chest. If this was before and if she were Jane, Bear wouldn't be surprised. If anything, he would find her actions, her guesses, and her plans expected. Not that she was holding a grudge about it.

"Marcus Manoban had been dead since a year ago. I confirmed it myself. Apparently, Marcus Manoban became a broker in the underground world, affiliating himself with a notorious mafia. According to my sources, he got an important position in this mafia family," Bear detailed his discovery in case she needed to hear it. "However, with the chaos and uncertainty in the world he moved in, he was shot dead just right outside his home."

"Collateral damage between two family wars?" Jennie inquired while checking her nails, making Bear clench his teeth.

The more he stayed with Jennie, the more Bear felt like he was with Jane. After all, Jane had this habit of checking her nails whenever she was listening to important details. This was the reason he chose to stay. Somehow, Jennie made him feel Jane was alive inside her.

"No," Bear breathed out.

This time, Jennie raised a brow, snapping him a quick look. "What is it?"

"His own people shot him dead." Bear maintained a poker face. "Apparently, the new don of the family cut out some people. Marcus Manoban was one of them."

"Haha..." Jennie chuckled upon hearing the additional detail, albeit not surprised. Things like that happened in the underground, especially whenever there was a change in power.

"Madam... this isn't a laughing matter." Bear frowned. "The underground is a vile world to be connected in. If someone in power is crazy enough, even those innocent will be affected."

In other words, the new Don of this notorious mafia family might come after Lisa or the Manoban family. Why? Because Marcus Manoban was a part of the Manoban family. Common sense in the underground wouldn't work. If Marcus Manoban did something unspeakable, this mafia family might come after the Manoban family to settle scores since the man was already dead.

This was the worst-case scenario, though.

"I'm sorry, Bear." Jennie rubbed her chin, humming as she processed the information. 'I can't directly involve myself in that world again.'

"Does he have a son?" she asked after a moment of silence.

"Not that I know of." Bear shook his head. "Marcus Manoban didn't have a family, but he had a promiscuous life. Still, even if he got a bastard, there weren't any records he fathered a child."

"How about an apprentice?"

"According to my source, Marcus Manoban is quite aloof. It is unknown how he got involved with the mafia, but it seemed he simply didn't have a choice. He has no apprentice, nor did he mentor anyone, as he liked working alone."

"I see..." Jennie rocked her head, still having this question mark in her mind. 'Am I wrong? I initially considered Primo has some relation with Marcus Manoban, but it could be that Primo was just sick in the head. Considering his business ventures, LYON Group is a huge wall Primo had to climb. He seemed lazy, so his twisted head might've thought that instead of climbing that impossible wall, he might as well take it down.'

Her expression turned solemn. 'If this is nothing but a business rivalry, then it is much better. Though it isn't good news, it is better than having someone from the underworld coming after the Manoban Family.'

"Thanks, Bear." Jennie smiled at Bear. "That information is enough."

"I'll still look more into it if there is anything I missed."

"No need." Jennie shook her head, aware that Bear wouldn't get anything.

If Bear already came back with this information, that only meant he asked for someone's help. She could think of a few people who dug all this information. She knew how her people worked and by that, it meant that was only the information they could get unless they would go on a mission to infiltrate that mafia family.

"Don't do anything for now," she continued calmly, glancing at the numbers above the door again to see they were already on the ground floor. "I'm still considering my options. For now, I want one thing clear."

And that was whether or not Primo was part of any organized crime, so she knew if she would cut him straight to the bone or leave everything to Lisa.
