Evelyn stood outside Nathan's door, her heart pounding in her chest as she fidgeted with her shirt one last time.

She glanced down at the bouquet of roses in her hand, and a cake box feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

Tonight was special—it was Nathan's birthday, and he had agreed to celebrate it with her at his house.

Taking a deep breath, she pressed the doorbell.

Moments later, the door opened to reveal Nathan. He leaned casually against the doorframe, his lips curving into a smirk.

He was wearing a deep, low-cut shirt that revealed the sharp lines of his chest. Evelyn's eyes darted downward before she quickly looked away, feeling a sudden rush of heat to her face.

Nathan chuckled softly, noticing her reaction. “Like what you see, Evelyn?” he teased, his voice low and smooth.

She gulped, trying to steady herself. “Uh... I—Happy birthday, Nathan,” she stammered, holding out the bouquet.

Nathan took the flowers, his fingers grazing hers for just a moment longer than necessary.

“Thanks, but you didn't need to bring anything. You being here is more than enough.”

Evelyn smiled shyly, stepping inside as Nathan closed the door behind her.

"Come on," he said, guiding her into the living room. "Let’s get to the main event. After all, it’s my birthday. Don’t keep me waiting.”

They moved into the kitchen, where a small cake rested on the counter. Evelyn had baked it herself—something simple, but made with care. She carefully lit the candles, her heart fluttering with anticipation.

“Ready to make a wish?” she asked, turning to Nathan.

Nathan looked at her, his smirk softening into something more sincere. He stepped forward, standing close enough that she could feel the heat from his body.

"Who says I need to wish for anything? I’ve already got what I want,"

his eyes locking onto hers for a brief, electrifying moment.

Evelyn’s breath caught, but before she could respond, Nathan blew out the candles.

They clapped softly, and he pulled a knife from the drawer, slicing into the cake. He handed Evelyn a piece, her fingers trembling slightly while taking it.

Nathan dipped his finger into the frosting and brought it to his lips, licking it off slowly. Evelyn’s pulse quickened, and she glanced away, feeling her face flush once again.

"Good cake," Nathan said with a wink.

Evelyn smiled, trying to ignore the way her heart raced. “I’m glad you like it. I wasn’t sure if you’d even want to celebrate.”

“I don’t usually,” Nathan replied, sitting down on the couch and motioning for her to join him. “But tonight’s different. You’re here.”

Evelyn sat beside him, feeling a little light-headed from being so close to him. She cleared her throat, reaching into her bag. “I… I also got you something.”

Nathan raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “A gift, huh? You really went all out for me, didn’t you?”

“It’s nothing big,” she said quickly, handing him the small wrapped box. “I just wanted to give you something meaningful.”
