Chapter Two

I woke up and decided that I would lay there for a couple minutes before getting up to get ready for the day. I got up to get my outfit and head to the bathroom to get ready, I decided to shower since I was meeting my parents for lunch and I wanted to go and do research for my next book. I went downstairs to eat a small breakfast before I got it on with my day, I sat down next to a guy while Lexi was serving breakfast. Ben came down and introduced me to the one guest that I was sitting next," Heather this is Charles Gilbert, Charles this is Heather Martin she is here until she find a house," nice to meet you Heather," if you need any help just let me know," thank you Charles," your welcome." I finished eating breakfast and helped clear the table and then went to the study to talk to Lexi to see where the local library was to do research for a new book. I got to the study and Lexi was sitting at her desk she turned around and told me take a seat, "Heather everything ok," yes I would like to know where the local library is," it is three blocks away, why do you need to go the library," I'm looking into a new idea for my new book," ok I have an idea if you want to use it," ok I will listen to you idea," have you heard of the New Dawn ship that was found but all the crew was missing when a Naval Officer name James Winchester found the ship abandon on December 4, 1885," was the lifeboat still with the ship," no it was found floating in the Atlantic Ocean with a bloodstain on the edge," is there any family member that I could talk to," yes me the ship and hotel been in my family since 1872 but I couldn't tell you much my father wouldn't talked about it," do you know who I could talked to," yes Thomas Dewis of the Roman Catholic Church could help you," ok if I make a story your place will become popular, and are you sure you would be ok with me writing about New Dawn Homestead," yes Ben doesn't know that I wanted to find out the truth about my family history," will Ben be upset that I'll be writing about New Dawn Homestead," I don't think so, I'll talked to him tonight about it," ok I have to meet my parents for a late lunch at their house today so I'll go to the library to see if I can find any information about the ship," ok I have to get back to register people in," ok I'll let you know if I find anything out, and I'll make sure to added your name in my novel as a dedication," you don't have to," I know that, I'll let you get back to work," have a good day," I'll." I was walking back to my room when I ran into Charles," I'm sorry I didn't mean to run into you ," that ok what are you doing today," I'm going to meet my parents for lunch today but for now going to find the library to do research for my new book," do you need me to show where the library is, it on my way to work you can follow me," that works." I got into the car and followed him to the library, it was only two minutes away from the homestead. I got out of my car and walked to his and said thank you for showing me the way here, he said he didn't mind. I let him get going and I grab my bag and walk into the library. I stopped at the desk and asked about getting a library card before I did anything, she was able to help me on getting a library card and when we were done I ask where they kept the old records, she walked me to a room that had all kind of files in the room," Heather what files do you need," do you have any on the New Dawn homestead or New Dawn Ship," if I may why do you need the files," the owner Lexi Jones give me permission to write my new novel about," that is awesome," it is I'm extcied to write about something new," what do you usually write about," I written about true crime," what true crime have you written about," I written about Casey Brown and Tony Mills," what did they do, Casey abandon her child in a abandon school in a freezer, and Tony left his children the car while he worked," did the children survive," Casey child died from suffocation and Tony two youngest died from a heatstroke and the older one did survive but was in a coma for a week," that is horrible, the files about the New Dawn Homestead and The New Dawn ship," thank you, if I wanted to can I check out some of the files," yes," ok, I'll let you get back to work," if you need anything let me know," I'll." She left the room, I went over to the wall and grabbed about five files to see what I could find. I found out the ship was built in May 15,1861 and it was built in Canada and then the first Captain Robert McClellan crashed the ship and the ship name was Dianna Dawn and it went through five Captain, the last Captain name was Scott Dawn and that would be Lexi 10 great grandfather, I look at my watch and noticed that I had to leave to get to my parents home in time. I check out the files I had taken and head to my car. I put my bag in the front seat and took off, I noticed at the light that I was going to be late and I couldn't call because my phone was dead hopefully my parents don't worry too much. I got half-way there when two police vehicles flew by me so I pulled to the side and when they went past me I started to dive again. I got to my parents house and noticed Jessica FBI vehicles and police vehicles at my parents house. I parked on the side of the street and started to head in when Jessica came out of the house." Jessica what is wrong is my parents ok," yes they are looking for you after receive word from the jail Oliver was staying in called," why did they called them for," they called because Oliver and Kelly were able to escape a week ago," I'm in danger," no but we will be guarding you until they are caught," how long until they are caught," we are not quite sure," ok do you think they will come here," no Oliver said Kelly and him just want to get married," ok so I'm not in danger," we don't think so but can't be sure," ok can I go in and see my parents," yes." I got inside my parents house and they were in the kitchen talking to officers, when they saw me standing there watching them, they came over and gave me a hug."Heather why didn't you answer the phone," my phone is dead, can I plug it in," yes," are you sure you guys are ok," yes we were just worried about you, we called the New Dawn and all they said is that you left to go the library three hours ago and when we tried the library you weren't there so we through the worst when you didn't pick up the phone," I'm sorry," do you think Oliver or Kelly would tried to called you," I'm not quite sure," ok you will have protection until they are back in jail," I know Jessica told me already when she saw me outside, when are we eating lunch," in a hour you mother have to finished lunch." I asked my mother if she needed any help with finishing getting lunch ready and she told me to stay sitting and to relax. Father came and sat down after the other cops left the FBI was standing guard outside right now." Heather what were you doing at the library," I'm doing research for a new book," what is the story going to be about," about the New Dawn Homestead and The New Dawn ship," do you have permission to write about the ship and the homestead," yes I got permission from the owner today when I ask about where the library was," ok just don't wanted you to get in trouble," I understand, how is work going for you," it going ok I leave tonight to protect a family that is going into hiding," that sound dangerous," it is but that the job," ok but be-careful," always am careful as I can get," ok how long are you going to be gone," I'm not quite sure how long I'm going be gone," ok." Mother came over with the food and sat it in the middle of the table and went and got the salad she made to go with the chicken pasta she made. We each got what we wanted and ate in silence, after lunch I helped clear the table and I was doing the dishes when my mother came up and stood beside me." Heather why did you even come back," I had to stay in Canada with what happened and you know that," as I told you when you left to stay away," as I told you that I would come back and when I visit you are never around," that because I wanted never wanted you to be a writer or write about crime." I didn't even say anything I grabbed my items and left without saying anything. I told Jessica that I was heading to the park for a while and that they could follow if they wanted to. I got into my car and turned my phone on. I had three missing calls from my mother 10 from my father, two from Jessica and five from Charles. I called Charles back to see what he wanted, he wanted to know if I wanted to meet him at the park later to hang out, I told him I was headed there right now, he said ok. I got off the phone and typed into the GPS to the park. I got to the park so I got out of the car and Jessica and the others followed behind me. I saw Charles sitting on the bench, I tap him on the shoulder and he asked me to sit down next to him when he saw people following me so he turn around to face me."Heather why are FBI following you," my ex-husband and my friend Kelly are lovers, I got home one day and they were sleeping together in our bed so I left him and then they tired to have me kill," how did they tired to kill you," they tired to hired someone to killed me and they were meeting with an undercover FBI Agents," what happen to them," they took a plea deal and they escape prison today," are they coming to kill you," they say they escape to get married but I don't see them coming here so that why they are following me," ok have you been back to the Homestead," no still trying to figure out to tell Lexi and Ben with all of this they might not want me there," I'm sure they wouldn't mind," hopefully not." We sat there for awhile before we left to head back to the homestead. I got back to the Homestead wondering if Lexi will let me stay here with the FBI having to guard me again. There was a knock at the window that got me out of my thoughts. I got out of the car and Jessica asked if I was ok and I told her that everything was ok. We entered the homestead when Lexi saw us and asked us to follow her to the office. We got to the office and Lexi told us to sit down before she spoke."Heather why are the FBI following you around," the are protecting me in case my ex-husband and ex-friend decide to come and kill me," that answer half the question but not the other half," my ex thought it would be smart to hire someone to killed me so when the met the killer to hire it was a undercover FBI Agents they met," were they out on bail," nope they took a plea deal, they thought they would be smart to escape to get married," so they are out of escape out of prison to get married, will they come here to finished to kill you," we don't know that why we are here to protect Heather," ok normally we don't have guest with FBI Agents following them around," are you saying I can't stay here," no I'm not kicking you out, just saying try to act normal for other guest that we have here," we will, Charles already know about them so I will warned him not to say anything to the others guests," thank you how do he know about this," we spent sometime together at the park this afternoon when he question me of why they were following me," ok I have to get back to work on dinner," ok," dinner is in a hour if you want to join," ok." We left the study I went back out to my car to get my bag when there were several gun shots, Charles came running over when Jessica and the other return shot fire to the ones that were shooting at me. The gun shots stop when they kill one and the other is injured, Lexi and Ben come running out when they were told to stay in for their safety, they went back inside. Jessica came over and ask Charles if he was ok, and he said yes and she came over next to me and asked if I was ok, I look at my arm and it was bleeding, Jessica came over to look at it and it as a bullet wound with no exit so Jessica had me to taken to the hospital to get the bullet out. I got to the hospital and they got me into a room pretty quick and there were guards all around the hospital. The doctor came in to check the wound and before he took me into surgery to remove the bullet out of my arm. Jessica stood out of surgery wing when Nolan walked up to her,"Nolan what are you doing here," I had to get my leg check," do you know when you get the cast off," in another two weeks, what are you doing," I'm here with Heather," what is she doing here, I through we were off the case," we were until Oliver and Kelly escape out of prison," when did they escape," a week ago," do you think they will come here,"I'm not quite sure," do you know who shot at Heather," no the one is in a coma and the other is dead," do you think Oliver was behind it," I'm not quite sure more than likely but we can't prove it," I'll be back in the officer this week," what are you going to be doing," I'll be on desk duty, so if you need if you need any information," ok," you be-careful when I heard from the doctor that FBI was coming in I was worried," I'll tried to no promised," ok I have to head home," ok." I woke up in a private room with Jessica sitting beside me and two guards are outside standing guard."Jessica how are the other agents," they are all fine," that good what about the guys that were shooting at as what happen to them" the one die at the homestead and the other just died a few minutes ago," so there are no leads on who hired them to shot me," no there isn't," ok so is there any leads on Oliver and Kelly," yes they were spot at the chapel in New York," are they close of catching them," no but we will, we have some agents working undercover hoping to lure them out," ok, have the doctor say when I would be getting discharge from the hospital," you should be discharge tomorrow afternoon," ok." I ended up falling asleep after we ate supper. I woke up in the morning and Charles came in with McDonald's for us, we thank him for the food," Charles are you sure you wanted to be around me right now," if I didn't wanted to be near you I wouldn't be here," ok," I also bought you a change of clothes for when you get discharge and I'll be driving you home," how did you get here," Nolan is bought me here since he has to get a foot cast on," what was he doing at the homestead," he wanted to check out the guest list for the last couple of weeks," ok," he going to be stopping in after he gets done getting his foot cast on," ok." We played rummy for awhile and we each won around, I tried to get up when Nolan came into the room and before I could get up he told me to stay in bed or he cuffed me to the bed so I couldn't get up. I laid back down before he could cuff me to the bed, I looked over to Charles and he didn't look to please that Nolan said that he would cuff me to the bed. Nolan sat down beside me and asked how I was doing, I told him that I was doing good. We turned on a movie when Jessica's phone rang and it was her boss, she got off the phone and she was silent for a second before she spoke to me. " Heather I just got news that Oliver and Kelly were caught at the local gas station," why were they there," they stopped to get food and drink and were leaving for Texas," ok did they confess to having me kill again," yes so the will be charge with attempted murder and several attempted murder on FBI Agents," hopefully they will give up now," I can assure you they will," how do you know," they got married yesterday afternoon, they through that you would stop them of getting married," I don't care what they do," he know that now," ok when are they being transported back to prison," they are are they way back now," ok when are you guys leaving," when they get back to prison," they will be back in prison," they will be back in prison in two days," ok." Nolan stayed awhile to visit and his wife called and asked when he was coming home so she could make dinner and he said that he was getting ready to leave. I woke up the next morning when the doctor came in to tell me that I was being discharge today and that I had to keep my arm elevated in the sling for two days. The doctor said he would be back with the discharge papers in an hour and I said ok. Jessica got my bag and helped me pack my items up."Jessica have you heard if Oliver and Kelly are out of New York," they are almost to Canada, they should be in Canada tomorrow evening," ok is there anymore threat to my life," no they got what they wanted so they will leave you alone," ok," you don't have to worry we are keeping a close eye on them both and we will still check in with you ," I just want to move on from all of this," differently understand but I'll be a phone call away if you need anything," thank you." We finished packing my items up when the doctor came in with the discharge for me to sign, Jessica finished packing my items into the bag while I signed the paper to leave. My father just showed as we were getting ready to leave the room I told Jessica she could wait outside from me and she asked me if I was sure. "Heather I'm sorry that I haven't been here when I heard about it I was out of town and I couldn't leave my post," I understand you have to do your job," have your mother been here to visit," no we aren't on speaking terms right now," I don't know why she wanted nothing to do with you," I don't want to talked about it," ok I have to head home," ok." Jessica came back in and said we were good to head back to the homestead so we got in the car and headed to the Homestead. We got back to the Homestead when Charles came out to help me carry my bags and I told him he didn't have to do that, he said that he didn't mind helping me. Charles took the bags up to my room, I was following him and Lexi asked me to come into the study really quick before I headed up to my room. I went into the study and Lexi told me that I could sit down if I wanted to." Heather how long are the FBI agents staying," they will be leaving tomorrow late afternoon or in the evening," ok I have them two room for them next to your," ok, how much do I owe you for your broken window," nothing the FBI Agents took care of the cost," ok, I'm going to be in my room most of the day doing more research about the New Dawn Ship and The New Dawn Homestead so I'll request my lunch up in my room," ok have you found anything else out about the ship or the homestead," not yet," ok I'll let you know if I find anything out," ok lunch will be chicken salad sandwich with sour cream and onion chips," that sound good." I left the study and headed up to my room and Jessica and the others were standing I told them they could come in my room if they wanted to. Jessica followed me into my rooms and the others stayed outside the room. I told Jessica that she could sit down if she wanted to. I got my backpack and sat at the desk I went through the first file and found out the ship had been in five crashes over the year that it was on water, the fifth crash it was in a explosion and it was rebuilt. They put it in the ship yard after it was found abandoned and they were trying to protect the evidence that was left on the ship. I got done with the first file pretty quickly so I got to the second file when there was a knock at the door Jessica told me to stay sitting that she would get the door. It was Lexi with lunch for all of us, Jessica let her in and she put the tray down the side table and asked if I found any more information and I told her that it was wrecked and the sixth sail it was found abandoned in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean so after they found it was abandon they took it to a ship yard to protect the evidence that were left on the ship, I told her that all I found for now, she told me that if I needed anything to called down to the study and she would come up. I went and grabbed a sandwich with a bag chip so I could eat before I got back to work. I got back to work and found the Homestead wasn't built until January 8,1873 it said to look in file five but I didn't have that one. I knew it was too late to head to the library so I got my laptop out to start writing the outline to send to my literary agent so she could approve of the story. I just got done with the outline for my new novel when there was a knock at the door Jessica got up and answered and it was Lexi with dinner for us, she had lasagna with salad for us and she said if we need anything to page the kitchen and she would come up. We grabbed our food and ate while watching TV. We just got done eating when my phone went off. I answered the phone and it was Anna calling me," Heather how are you doing," I'm doing good," that sounds good, I just call to let you know your new story is approve," ok how long do I have to write it," you have a year to get the story finished," ok I'll talked to you later." I got off the phone and decided to shower before I went to bed. Jessica woke me around 8 am to talk to me," Heather Oliver and Kelly are back in prison," when did they get back to prison," they got back early this morning," ok are they going to get extra time for escaping prison and coming after me," after breakfast we will be leaving to go back, I haven't heard if they will get extra time but I'm sure they will get extra time," ok." I laid there for a couple of minutes before getting up out of bed, I got up and got a red and blue dress and went into the bathroom to get ready. I got ready and headed to the dining-room and Jessica and the others came down with me, we ate breakfast with everyone. We got done and Jessica told her team to get their bags together because they had to head out. I follow Jessica and the agents upstairs so they could get ready, and I know that they would want me with them until they left. I asked Jessica if she needed any help packing her items and she said no because she only had one bag. They got their bag and told me good-bye. Jessica came over and gave me a hug and told me to be-careful, I walked her to her vehicle and watched her pull out of the driveway. Charles came up and stood next to me, "Heather are you ok," yes I am just glad to have them gone," differently understand what are you doing today," I'm going to be going to the library to see if they have any more files on New Dawn Ship or the Homestead," do you wanted company," you can come if you wanted to," ok let go in a hour," ok sounds good."
