After waiting for a full two hours, Yang Jian was certain that the ghost baby wouldn't return. The situation with Wang Bin's family had been temporarily resolved, though it left behind a small but significant potential danger.

He glanced sympathetically at Wang Shanshan.

Becoming a ghost handler was something Yang Jian had no choice about. In that situation, had he not become one, he would have died in the restroom. But Wang Shanshan was supposed to leave the school with everyone else; who knew that at the last moment, the ghost baby would target her?

"I still have work to do. I just took a short leave to come here. Now that everything is settled, I should go. If anything else comes up, you can call me. But if it's related to a supernatural event, I'll have to charge you," Yang Jian said, standing up and preparing to hail a taxi.

Wang Bin quickly responded, "I really don't know how to thank you enough for what you did today. How about this—when you're free, let me treat you to a meal?"

"No need for that, save your money," Yang Jian replied. "Besides, nothing good ever happens when people are around me."

Suddenly, Wang Shanshan spoke up, "Can I come with you?"

"Shanshan, what are you saying?" Wang Haiyan quickly grabbed her daughter's hand, afraid that she might actually leave with Yang Jian. She understood that Yang Jian was no longer as simple as he appeared to be; following him would surely mean facing more dangers in the future.

Yang Jian smiled, "You should stay with your parents. They've had a tough day because of you... And you should also be aware of your situation. Even if the ghost baby isn't targeting you, you don't have much time left."

"I know, but I still want to be with you," Wang Shanshan replied, without any shyness, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"That's not happening. You need to stay with your parents right now. That's it. I'm leaving," Yang Jian said firmly.

There was no way he was going to let Wang Shanshan follow him.

Having an extra person would only slow him down. In case of trouble, he could escape quickly using the ghost domain, but with someone else, he'd be stuck trying to save them.

Time to get out of here.

With the money in hand, Yang Jian quickly hailed a taxi and left. He returned to the mall to continue his risky but necessary work.

"This young man is really something," Wang Bin said, unable to hold back his admiration as he watched Yang Jian leave.

What's the most important thing in the 21st century? Talent.

Yang Jian had this special talent, coupled with a sharp mind. Although he lacked social experience, that was due to his youth. Given time to grow, he would undoubtedly become a significant figure.

"If my daughter could date someone like him, it wouldn't be a bad choice," Wang Bin thought to himself. But Yang Jian didn't seem to be interested in Shanshan... And Shanshan isn't unattractive.

Could it be that Yang Jian... prefers men?

If Yang Jian knew what Wang Bin was thinking, he'd surely scold him for being too cynical.

He was almost dead; who had time for romance? There was no time for children, either.

Back at the mall, everything was dark except for the security room.

When Yang Jian returned, the other security guard, Liu Qiang, was playing a game on his phone out of boredom.

"Why did you take so long? You were gone forever! You just started and already took a leave? Luckily, I lied to Sister Li and said you went to the restroom. Otherwise, we would've gotten an earful," Liu Qiang said.
