After Yang Jian left, the remaining group finally began to gather their thoughts.

"Wait, Yang Jian saved us, and we didn't even thank him. Isn't that kind of rude?" Miao Xiaoshan said, sounding a bit guilty.

Zhao Lei nodded, "How about we invite Yang Jian out for dinner in a couple of days?"

"Just some skewers?" Zhang Wei chuckled, "Skewers? Seriously? If I'm going to invite him, it'll be to a fancy restaurant, followed by karaoke at a bar, and maybe even a full spa treatment. I'll talk to my dad about possibly buying a house for him nearby. I heard his family is still renting, and their situation isn't great... No matter what, I'm sticking to this guy. No one better try to take him away from me, especially you, Miao Xiaoshan. I heard you and Yang Jian have known each other since junior high."

He eyed Miao Xiaoshan, "No seducing him, got it?"

"What are you even talking about, Zhang Wei?" Miao Xiaoshan's face flushed with embarrassment as she quickly defended herself.

"You're exaggerating, don't you think?" Zhao Lei asked in shock.

Zhang Wei smirked, "Exaggerating? If it meant staying alive, I'd even offer him my—"

"..."

Everyone recoiled in disgust, instinctively taking a few steps away from Zhang Wei. The girls in the group also looked at him with a mix of shock and confusion.

They knew Zhang Wei was a character, but this was over the top.

"Don't believe me? Let me ask you this: Would you rather offer that or face a ghost?" Zhang Wei asked.

As the group recalled the horrors of the previous night, fear crept back into their expressions.

"Yeah... offering that doesn't sound so bad," Zhao Lei muttered, cautiously agreeing. For some reason, faced with the two choices, he couldn't help but lean toward the former. Even the girls blushed slightly, remembering when Yang Jian had saved Wang Shanshan and mentioned something about her repaying him.

It was true that having Yang Jian around made them feel safe.

Zhang Wei, now more serious, continued, "That Interpol officer, Zhou Zheng, mentioned that incidents like this will happen more frequently in the future. They're becoming a global disaster. Just because we survived this one doesn't mean we're safe forever... Ordinary people like us can't deal with ghosts. Only people like Zhou Zheng can, and it looks like Yang Jian is one of them now."

"We're lucky to know Yang Jian. In the future, he might be the only one who can save us."

He stopped speaking after that, realizing how crucial Yang Jian's role had become. Last night's events were a terrifying nightmare he never wanted to relive. If he were a girl, he'd probably be clinging to Yang Jian already.

In that regard, Wang Shanshan was doing exactly the right thing.

He glanced toward the bus stop where Wang Shanshan had clung to Yang Jian, insisting he take her home.

Meanwhile, on the bus, Yang Jian sat wearily in his seat, watching the familiar streets, the bustling crowds, and the noisy cityscape outside the window.

The noise, though overwhelming, was oddly comforting.

At least there were no ghosts here.

Wang Shanshan had indeed latched onto Yang Jian. If their relationship had been a bit closer, she might have asked to stay at his place. For now, though, she was content just asking him to take her home.
