A THOUSAND AND ONE WORDS

hi or bye?

it feels weird to say "hi".

we both know so much about each other,

we share so many memories,

late nights and early morning with just us,

"hi" doesn't do us justice.

but that's how people greet each other,

and there's not much else to say,

after five months of radio silence.

it's this limbo,

this state between passer-bys and friends,

separated by the word "hi".

a simple two letter word,

one syllable,

only worth five points in scrabble,

but it defies months of no contact.

and for once,

i'm okay with that.

so, "hi".

it may feel weird to say "hi",

but it always felt weirder to say "bye".
