A Silent Threat

Rebekah and Bonnie drove in silence toward Marcel's home. Both were recovering from the previous night's festivities, their hangovers soothed only by the herbal tea they'd had earlier. Rebekah was behind the wheel, her fingers tapping nervously against the steering wheel as they approached their destination. She had called Marcel numerous times, but his phone rang endlessly with no answer. It was unlike Marcel to ignore her calls—he always picked up, no matter what. And now, after Lucien's claim about Marcel's absence, her worry began to gnaw at her. Bonnie was sitting right next to her in the passenger seat. Her whole body felt hot, feverish, due to the full moon tonight. She hated being in her heated phase. I guess that's the perks of being bonded with a hybrid, she thought.

Bonnie shifted in her seat and glanced at Rebekah

Bonnie shifted in her seat and glanced at Rebekah. "So, what really happened between you and Rafael?" she asked, breaking the silence.

Rebekah sighed deeply, her eyes fixed on the road ahead. "He was dishonest about a few things.." she tapped her fingers against the steering wheel. "I'd prefer not to delve into it at this moment. For now, let's concentrate on locating Marcel."

Bonnie gave her a sympathetic look. She could feel the weight of Rebekah's heartache, but before she could respond, Rebekah pulled the car to a stop near Marcel's home. They sat there for a moment in silence before Rebekah looked over at Bonnie, her expression softening.

"I envy you and Nik," Rebekah said quietly. "You two share something truly extraordinary, something magical. It's everything I've always longed for."

Bonnie smiled softly, reaching over to hug her friend and plant a kiss on her cheek. She then pulled back and met Rebekah's gaze with a playful smirk. "You know... I'm kind of psychic," Bonnie said, a teasing glint in her eyes." And I predict that you'll have the love you're looking for. But you've got to stop searching for it. When the time is right, it'll find you."

Rebekah returned the smile, though there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I hope you're right, witch." she said softly.

They stepped out of the car and walked toward Marcel's home. The air felt unusually still as they approached the front door. Bonnie rang the bell, and they waited, but the seconds dragged on. Rebekah frowned, tapping her foot impatiently. She rang the bell again, but still nothing.

Rebekah's patience ran out. "This is ridiculous," she muttered before kicking the door in. It swung open with a loud crash, and they stepped inside. Almost immediately, one of Marcel's vampires appeared in the hallway, his eyes widening in shock when he saw Bonnie, who was supposedly dead, standing there.

"Took you long enough to open the door," Rebekah said, raising an eyebrow. "Where the bloody hell is Marcel?"

The vampire looked uneasy. "I don't know," he replied hesitantly.

Rebekah's eyes narrowed dangerously. "What do you mean, you don't know? Aren't you supposed to be one of his loyal minions?"

"Marcel's been gone for a while now," another voice chimed in. A second vampire entered the hallway, his expression just as shocked when he laid eyes on Bonnie. "We haven't heard from him in almost two years."
