The bar was a cozy refuge from the bustling streets of New Orleans. Its wooden walls, adorned with vintage signs and old photographs, offered a sense of warmth and nostalgia. The sun was still high in the sky, casting a soft, golden light through the windows, which meant the bar was mostly empty—perfect for the girls to relax and enjoy some quiet time.Rebekah, Bonnie, and Lucy settled into a booth near the back. The clinking of glasses and the hum of distant conversations provided a soothing background to their chatter. Bonnie took a sip of her drink, savoring the blend of flavors as she leaned back, feeling the tension of the past days start to ease away.
Lucy was mid-sentence, recounting a funny story from her recent trip, when Bonnie's phone buzzed sharply on the table. Bonnie glanced at the screen, and the sight of Damon Salvatore's name made her sigh.
"Of course it's him," Bonnie muttered, rolling her eyes as she slipped the phone back into her pocket.
Lucy, catching the movement, raised an eyebrow. "Trouble in paradise?" she asked, a smirk playing at her lips.
Bonnie forced a smile. "No, I just don't feel like talking right now."
Rebekah, ever perceptive, eyed her curiously. "Let me guess, it's the doppelganger?" she ventured, her tone laced with mild amusement.
Bonnie shook her head. "No."
"Then it must be your annoying little friend Caroline Forbes," Rebekah continued, rolling her eyes with a dramatic flourish.
Bonnie chuckled. "Hey, Caroline is not annoying! She's just passionate. And no, I already spoke with her this morning. It's Damon."
Lucy's interest was piqued. "Damon Salvatore? The vampire who was obsessed with Katherine and kept looking for her in some tomb for over a hundred years?"
Bonnie nodded. "Yep, the one and only."
"Ah, and now he's obsessed with you?" Lucy asked, her curiosity evident.
"No, of course not," Bonnie said quickly. "It's just that I don't want to talk to him right now, and he can't seem to take a hint."
As if on cue, Bonnie's phone began to ring again. She pulled it out, saw Damon's name flashing on the screen, and let out a long, exasperated sigh.
Rebekah and Lucy exchanged a knowing look, their eyes twinkling with mischief. "Maybe he's in love with you," Lucy teased, her tone light and playful.
"Yeah, maybe he's just persistent," Rebekah added, her smile widening. "It sounds like he's really trying to get your attention."
Bonnie rolled her eyes, though a hint of a smile tugged at her lips. "No, it's not that. It's just that he doesn't understand that I can't always help everyone."
Lucy snickered. "Well, I guess he's not taking the hint. Maybe you should just turn your phone off for a bit."
Bonnie considered this suggestion, her fingers hovering over her phone. "I might just do that. I'm on vacation, after all. I deserve a break."
Rebekah raised her glass in a mock toast. "Here's to ignoring unwanted calls and enjoying a well-deserved respite."
