Elijah, Lucy, and Zeta were walking through the forest. The locator spell had led them deep into the Asheville wilderness, straight to the BosRoq werewolves, the last bloodline they needed to complete their plan. Lucy's magic guided them. After thirty minutes of walking, they arrived at a small, humble village nestled among the trees.
Before they could approach, seven wolves emerged from the shadows, surrounding them. Elijah stood tall, but the wolves' focus was sharp, especially on him. Suspicion lingered in the air like a storm about to break.
"Why are you here?" one of the wolves demanded, as he stepped forward.
Elijah, calm but firm, met the wolf's gaze. "We've come to speak with your alpha or elder."
The wolf sneered. "Why would we let a vampire anywhere near our elder?" His eyes shifted toward Lucy, lingering too long on her.
Elijah's expression darkened, and he stepped forward, his patience thinning. "I owe no explanations to... subordinates. What I am requesting—politely—is to speak with your alpha or elder. Should you prefer a less civil approach, I can certainly accommodate that but then the situation would become extremely... awkward."
The wolves bristled at his words, one of them growling as he took a step forward. "Are you threatening us, vampire?"
Elijah's lips curled into a smile devoid of warmth. "I don't make threats. Rather, I prefer to think of myself as a... man of my word."
The tension crackled as the wolf stepped forward, but one of them held him back, the pack clearly conflicted between their instincts and Elijah's unshakable composure. Lucy sighed in frustration.
"We don't have time for this," she snapped, eyes flashing with annoyance. "Just get your alpha or elder, or whoever runs this place, so we can get this over with."
Her words went unheard as the wolves focused entirely on Elijah. With a chuckle, he began to remove his suit jacket, folding it carefully and handing it to Lucy. "You wolves always insist on doing things the hard way. We could have had a simple civil conversation, but it seems like you all crave... blood."
As he rolled up his sleeves, the wolves growled, readying themselves. "Vampires are always so arrogant," one spat.
But before any conflict could erupt, a voice cut through the tension. "Enough!"
The wolves immediately halted, parting as an older woman approached. She moved with the grace and authority of someone long accustomed to leadership. Her long gray hair framed her tanned face, and her dark eyes held the weight of years of wisdom.
"What brings a vampire and two witches to my village?" she asked as she looked directly at Elijah.
Elijah inclined his head slightly. "We have come to speak with the elders or alpha of this pack."
The woman's gaze sharpened. "I am the elder, and the alpha. What business do you have with us?"
Elijah exchanged a glance with Lucy before speaking. "The matter is quite delicate, and we would greatly prefer to discuss it in private."
