It had been days. Days since I'd let myself even think about her without a wave of guilt washing over me. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't push Sophia out of my mind. She was everywhere—in the scent that lingered on my clothes, in the heat that surged through my body at the mere thought of her touch.
I wanted her. Needed her.
The distance between us felt like it was eating me alive. I'd been dodging her, avoiding her, trying to protect both of us from whatever threat was looming in the shadows. But it wasn't working. It was driving me insane.
My fingers hovered over my phone screen, her name taunting me. Just a text. One message to hear her voice again. To see her face. What harm could it do? After all, the blackmailer hadn't sent anything for days. Maybe they were done, maybe I was in the clear.
But even if I wasn't—damn it, I needed her.
Before I could talk myself out of it, I typed out the message and hit send.
"Meet me at my car tonight. 8 PM."
I didn't wait for a reply. I couldn't bear to sit there watching my phone like a desperate man. Instead, I tossed it onto the couch, pacing the length of my living room as if that would somehow ease the tension coiling inside me. My body was a mess of nerves, anticipation thrumming beneath my skin. Every time I closed my eyes, I could feel the memory of her pressed against me—the heat, the need, the hunger.
By the time 8 PM rolled around, I was already in my car, hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. The parking lot was empty, shadows stretching across the pavement in the dim glow of the streetlights. I kept glancing at the rearview mirror, waiting, hoping she would show up. And then, there she was.
Sophia appeared like a vision, her silhouette illuminated briefly as she crossed through the beam of a streetlamp. My chest tightened at the sight of her. She looked hesitant, her arms crossed over her chest as she approached the car. I could see the worry etched across her face, but even that didn't stop the rush of heat flooding through me.
I rolled down the window, my voice low. "Get in."
She opened the passenger door and slid in, her eyes searching mine for something—answers, reassurance, anything. For a moment, we just sat there in silence, the air thick with unspoken words.
"I missed you," I said quietly, my voice breaking the tension.
Her lips parted, her expression softening as she looked at me. "I missed you too."
I reached for her hand, squeezing it tightly, as if holding on to her could somehow steady the chaos inside me. "I don't know what to do anymore, Sophia. I can't stop thinking about you, but... this thing, this blackmail—it's hanging over my head, and I'm terrified. I don't know who's watching, I don't know what they want. I'm just... I'm scared."
She turned in her seat, her fingers brushing against my cheek, forcing me to meet her gaze. "I know you're scared. I'm scared too. But we can't let this control us, Lorenzo. We can't let fear run our lives, let it ruin what we have."
Her words hit me like a lifeline, something solid in the midst of all the uncertainty. She was right. I knew she was right. But it was hard to let go of that fear, to stop looking over my shoulder.
"They could have more on us. They could ruin us."
Sophia shook her head. "Then let them. But we can't live like this—hiding from each other, from everything. We need to trust that we'll figure it out. Together."
I swallowed hard, the lump in my throat making it difficult to speak. Her faith in me, in us, was something I hadn't expected. I had been trying so hard to shield her from the fallout, to keep her safe. But maybe I was just pushing her further away.
"I can't lose you," I whispered, my voice rough with emotion.
"You won't," she said softly, her lips brushing against mine. "You won't lose me."
That was all it took. The dam inside me broke, and I pulled her toward me, crushing my lips against hers with a hunger that had been building for days. She responded instantly, her hands tangling in my hair as she kissed me back with the same fiery intensity.
In that moment, nothing else mattered. Not the blackmailer, not the fear. Just us.
I pushed back the seat, making room for her to climb onto my lap, her legs straddling me as I pressed her against the steering wheel. Our kisses grew more desperate, more frenzied, the heat between us sparking into a full-blown fire.
Her hands roamed across my chest, tugging at the buttons of my shirt, while my fingers traced the curve of her waist, pulling her closer, needing to feel every inch of her against me. She moaned softly into my mouth, and it was enough to drive me wild.
I reached up, cupping her face with one hand while the other gripped her hip, guiding her movements as she rocked against me with a heated friction. The windows fogged up, the temperature inside the car rising with every passing second.
"Lorenzo," she whispered breathlessly, her lips trailing down my neck, sending shivers down my spine.
I couldn't get enough of her. The way her body moved against mine, the way her breath hitched with every touch—it was intoxicating. I felt alive, like the world outside didn't exist, like we were the only two people that mattered.
She pulled me deeper into the kiss, her hips grinding against mine as the car shook with our movements. My hands slipped under her shirt, feeling the heat of her skin beneath my palms, and I knew I was lost. Lost in her, lost in the moment. My fingers moved with abandon as they quickly freed myself from the restraint of my jeans, and pushed her panties to the side.
With a quick thrust we were once more intertwined in the way I so desperately craved. We moved together, our bodies in perfect sync, the passion between us growing with every touch, every kiss, every moan, every thrust. The car was filled with the sound of our ragged breathing and skin slapping deliciously, the windows completely fogged over, shielding us from the world outside, as the car shook slightly from our movements.
It felt like forever and yet no time at all before we both reached our climax, collapsing into each other in a tangle of limbs and heavy breathing. The aftermath was sweet, the air thick with satisfaction and the warmth of our bodies still lingering.
For a moment, everything was perfect.
Then my phone dinged.
I tensed, the sound breaking through the haze of our intimacy. But this time, I didn't reach for it. I didn't even look.
I ignored it.
Instead, I pulled Sophia closer, pressing a soft kiss to her temple my fingers found their way to work her up to her another peak, silently promising myself that, at least for tonight, I wasn't going to let the fear win.
For tonight, it was just us.
