Third Person POV
Waiting for any sign from Taehyung all these hours was torture. No matter how tired he was, he couldn't fall asleep after Yoongi had dropped him off to his building and thankfully, he didn't ask any questions.
Jeongguk had charged him phone all the way so he won't miss any text or call from Taehyung even though it felt unlikely there would be any.
He just hopes he hasn't scared Taehyung away.
He busied himself in workout for most of the time, then tried playing a games throughout the day. By the sunset, his eyes were drooping and tired and he fell asleep right on the couch for an hour or two.
He woke up at exactly 9 pm and sighs heavily as his phone was empty from any text or calls from Taehyung. He decides to take a quick shower and go to bed early properly.
Just as he's drying off his hair, there are familiar knocks on the door and he almost burns his scalp when the dryer is about to fall of his hands and onto his head.
Jeongguk rushes to open the door and finds Taehyung standing there, breathing heavily, trying to catch his breath from the apparent flight of stairs.
He looks like he's had a shower because his hair are a little wet and it's not from the sweat right now. He's changed into his silk pajamas and he's not wearing anything over them to shield himself from the cold.
He looks like he's about to drop a bomb on him and Jeongguk doesn't know what to do.
But he moves away to let Taehyung in and closes the door behind them. The florist stands in the middle of the hall, facing the wall he has decorated.
"You could catch a cold, petal. Where's your jacket?" Jeongguk asks gently but gets no answer.
Jeongguk can only look at Taehyung's back as he stands a few steps away from him, heart thudding violently against his chest and waiting (im)patiently for what Taehyung has to say.
And anyways, he'd understand if Taehyung needs more time or won't believe him altogether because no-one believes the person who's hurt you so much all the time and within days, tell you they love you.
"Why---why would you say that?" Taehyung's voice is cautious but scared.
"That I love you?" Jeongguk says and hears Taehyung suck in a sharp breath and then gently nod.
"Because I mean it." Jeongguk says, his words and voice both sure.
Taehyung turns back to him then, faces him and his honey dipped eyes are wide, scared and Jeongguk wants nothing more to take that fear away from them.
"But you don't believe in love." Taehyung whispers, playing with the hem of his shirt.
"What?" Jeongguk frowns.
"You---you don't believe in love, Jeongguk so how can you say you love me and mean it?" Taehyung says.
"What are you saying, petal? When did I---why do you think I don't believe in love?" Jeongguk asks and takes a few steps towards him but Taehyung moves back.
