I turned and walked away, leaving them in the kitchen..

I turned and walked away, leaving them in the kitchen...
"What's happening to my life? It's only two weeks since Ray's death, and everything's falling apart. Oh, Ray, why did you leave me in this cruel world?"
I reached my room and closed the door, wanting solitude.
As I processed everything, a knock came.
"Ana, please come downstairs. Breakfast is ready, and you haven't eaten since yesterday," Leo said gently.
I hesitated, then decided to join them.
"Fine, I'm coming," I said.
"Okay, Ana, we're waiting," Leo replied.
In the kitchen, Max and Leo sat at the table.
"Ana, join us for breakfast," Max said warmly.
I sat hesitantly.
"When are you leaving?" I asked nervously.
Max and Leo exchanged a glance.
"We'll leave today," Leo said.
"And you're coming with us," Max added firmly.
"Me?" I asked, confused.
"Yes, Ana, you're coming with us today," Leo said with a gentle smile.
"The hell I am," I said, standing.
"Ana, sit down. No discussion," Max said firmly.
"No, I'm not going anywhere. This is Ray's and my home. It holds our memories, emotions... everything. You're strangers. I won't leave," I said, tears flowing.
"Ana, listen. We won't leave without you. Finish breakfast, rest, pack, and we'll go," Max said firmly.
"I won't go," I shouted and ran to my room.
Leo entered my room minutes later.
"Ana, please listen. You must come with us, or you'll end up in foster care. We can't let that happen. Trust us; we mean well," Leo said, sitting beside me.
"Ray trusted us. We understand your pain, but trust us. This is what Ray wanted. This was his last wish, Ana, " Max said, entering my room.
"Was Ray's last wish... were you there when he died?" I asked curiously.
"Yes, Ana, we were there. He died in Max's arms," Leo said, his jaw clenched.
"How did he die? Those men didn't tell me. I forgot to ask you... how did Ray die?" I asked, folding my hands.
"Ana, I don't think you should know," Leo said sympathetically.
"Did he suffer?" I asked nervously.
"Ana, he saved a girl your age. He took a bullet for her. He saw you in her and couldn't stop himself," Max said calmly.
"Oh, Ray!" I whispered, tears streaming.
"Ray asked us to protect you, care for you," he cried, Ana, I saw him crying for the first time, he said he wont be there for you when you will be crying, he won't be able to protect you, hug you and comfort you.. and he broke his promise he made to you that he would return. Max said gently.
"Oh, Ray!" I sobbed.
"Ana!" Leo said.
"Ray asked you to forgive him. He said sorry he couldn't make it for his baby, sis," Leo said, hugging me.
"Ana, please come with us. You're not safe here," Leo said.
"I don't know how to live without Ray, and I don't want to burden you," I said.
"Ana, you'll never be a burden," Max reassured.
"Ohk, I will pack,"
"Ok, Ana, we are downstairs. If you need any help, call us.. max said gently. "
I nodded
Ana was packing when a question arose in her mind..
"What did Ray do?" she wondered.
She stopped packing and went to Max and Leo.
"Tell me, what did Ray do?" Ana asked, her voice firm.
Max and Leo exchanged uneasy glances.
"Ana, what are you talking about?" Leo asked hesitantly.
"You know what I'm talking about," Ana pressed. "Ray's job, his work... what was it?"
Max's expression turned guarded. "Ana, that's classified."
"Classified?" Ana's voice rose. "You're hiding something."
Leo intervened, "Ana, trust us, it's better you don't know."
Ana's eyes narrowed. "You're just like those men who came to tell me about Ray's death. Secrets and lies."
Max's jaw clenched. "Ana, we're trying to protect you."
"Protect me from what?" Ana demanded.
The air seemed to thicken, heavy with unspoken truths.
"Ana, we will tell you the truth when the time comes.." Leo said
"But -" I was cut off by Max
"This is what Ray wanted Ana trust him.." Max said.
What was your work ? why did you hide it from me?
