Author's note:

Oh, finally! ;)

To be honest, I haven't 'really' had time to write recently, but, apparently, Wattpad rankings mean more to me than healthy sleep schedule, lol. The story has only gained like 5 reads in the last 2-3 weeks, and I took that personally.

Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading this chapter and let me know your thoughts in the comments. Have a good weekend!

"Kubwa, move the log! Nirmala, get ready to place that bolder underneath it!", Surak was giving orders. The acting king and queen, assisted by the polar bear, were trying to help the rabbits trapped under the pine trees Anga had found earlier.

"You got it, Your Majesty!", the gentle giant followed the instructions. "Twende Kiboko!", he exclaimed with excitement in his voice, imitating Beshte. The temporary Night Pride's Strongest then used all his strength to push the fallen tree and managed to lift it up just high enough to free the entrance to the rabbits' den. "Ugh!"

"Hold on a little longer, darling! We're almost there!", Nirmala cheered the bear as she heard him struggle. The healer and her mate hurried to put a large rock in front of the log, preventing it from rolling down the hill.

"This doesn't look very stable, but it'll work for now.", the lion stated plainly.

"Did you hear that, little guys?", Kubwa asked in a soft tone of voice, lowering his head to the ground. "You may climb out of there!", he encouraged the unfortunate animals.

"Is it safe?", a scared voice asked from inside the den.

"Yes, it is.", Anga responded. The eagle was about to land on the log but noticed it was still a little shaky. "You should hurry, though!", she chose to sit on a branch of another tree instead.

One by one the victims of the storm quickly got out of their home, not willing to get trapped inside it again. "Thank you for saving us!"

"You're welcome!", the lioness smiled. "Is any of you hurt?"

"We're a little shook, but no injuries.", the long-eared family appeared to be fine.

"Let's walk a little further away from here before we decide what to do with the tr-"

"Surak! Surak! Surak!", several voices simultaneously shouted at the top of their lungs.

"Huh?", everybody turned their heads since the noise seemed to be coming from the direction of the main forest path.

"SURAK! NIRMALA!", the screams became louder and more distinct as the group of animals was getting closer. The rabbits' instincts kicked in, and the family quickly ran away, disappearing into the nearby thicket.

"That's Night Pride!", Kubwa recognized his friends. "WE'RE HERE!", he shouted too, making sure they'd be able to locate him.

A few moments later a squad consisting of a wild dog, a grizzly bear, and two brown hyenas appeared. The four came to a halt when they entered glade, yet barely avoided bumping into the lion couple.

"Jungle!"

"Danger!"

"Carnivore!"

"Terrifying!"

None of the guardians could say more than one word at a time due to the fact that all of them were panting heavily. It was clear the members of The Night Pride had been on the move for a while.

"Breathe, dear ones!", Nirmala stepped forward. "In...out...in...out!", she showed the runners how to catch their breath faster.

"What's going on?", Surak asked once Roho seemed to regain her ability to speak.
