Chapter 4: A Helping Hand

---

Ava’s POV

Instead, Cody came alone, a small clipboard tucked under her arm, her brow furrowed in concentration.

“Dr. Ava,” bati sakin ni Cody habang nakangiti.

“Hey, Cody,” I responded while smiling at her. “Thanks for coordinating with us on the donations. Maive and I are glad you’re able to help.”

She has a soft spot for these kinds of things like you.

Agad namang umiwas ng tingin si Cody at napakamot sa batok nito at nagsalita “Miley wanted me to pass along some of her ideas,” Cody continued, her voice a little more animated now. “Nabanggit nya na siguro okay kung mag set up din sya ng booth for eco-friendly gear, yung company nya kasi ng po-produce ng mga ganokg stuff. Thought it might be a good way to get people interested while also contributing.”

"That could work, as long as it aligns with what we're trying to do there. It’s about making sure the essentials reach those in need first.”

Cody shifted again, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of the clipboard. “Of course, of course. Pwede kang kausapin ni Miley tungkol doon. I’ll get her to call you later, maybe?”

“Trust me, hindi sya busy besides lunch ngayon oh, malamang nagpapahinga yon ngayon.” Cody replied, already dialing.

My gash, boses niya ba yon?

“Hey, Cody! What’s up?”

“Hey, Miley! Kasama ko ngayon si Dr. Ava Hart, and we were just discussing the donation drive. Gusto nyang marinig yung mga ideas mo. Do you have a moment?”

“Of course! Free time ko naman ngayon. ”

“Hi, Miley!” I replied, my heart is racing slightly at the prospect of finally speaking with her. “Thanks for taking the time.”

“Yeah yeah, I’m excited about the drive. What do you think of setting up a booth for eco-friendly gear? I believe it could draw in more people and generate some buzz.”

I felt a smile tug at my lips.

“Totally agree,” Miley said. “Maybe we can do both? Have a separate area for eco-friendly products while still keeping the main focus on donations? I can bring some samples to showcase what we offer.”

“I like that idea,” I replied, feeling the energy of collaboration. “It could encourage more donations while promoting sustainability.”

“See? That worked out perfectly.”

“Thanks for suggesting it,” I said, feeling a mixture of relief and excitement. “Miley seems really committed to making this work.”

“She is,” Cody agreed, glancing over at Maive, who was now waving Ava to join her. “You two will make a great team.”

Habang naglalakad naman palayo sakin si Cody para puntahan ang mga supplies na dumating pa, nakita ko naman ang sarili ko na iniisip si Miley, what kind of person Miley really was. The way Cody spoke about her, there was a respect and admiration that hinted at something deeper.
