Chapter 15 - Lux's 2nd Birthday

The day dawned bright and cheerful, a perfect backdrop for celebrating Lux's second birthday. Ethan and Jenna had planned an adorable party filled with all of Lux's favorite things—balloons, colorful decorations, and, of course, a cake shaped like her favorite cartoon character.

As family and friends began to arrive, the house buzzed with laughter and excitement. Lux was decked out in a vibrant party dress, her eyes sparkling with joy as she greeted each guest with squeals of delight. Her cousins, Ethan's and Jenna's children, ran around, helping to set up the decorations and creating an atmosphere filled with happiness.

Jenna had spent the morning preparing a spread of snacks—mini sandwiches, fruit skewers, and a variety of colorful cupcakes. Edwin and Jamie arrived, holding hands, both wearing bright smiles and carrying gifts for the birthday girl.

"Happy birthday, Lux!" they chimed in unison as they entered, drawing her attention. Lux ran over to them, throwing her arms around Edwin's waist.

"Uncle Edwin! Uncle Jamie!" she squealed, and they both knelt down to embrace her.

"Are you ready for your big day?" Jamie asked, her voice filled with warmth.

"Yeah!" Lux replied, her enthusiasm infectious.

As the guests settled in, Ethan clapped his hands to gather everyone's attention. "All right, everyone! It's time to kick off the festivities! Let's sing happy birthday to our amazing Lux!"

The room filled with the cheerful melody of "Happy Birthday," and Lux's face lit up with glee as everyone sang. When the song ended, she leaned forward to blow out the candles on her cake, a colorful creation adorned with sprinkles and a big number two.

"Yay!" cheered the crowd, clapping as she beamed with pride. "Can I have a piece now?"

After the cake was served, the kids rushed outside for games and activities. There was a bouncy castle set up in the backyard, and Lux squealed with delight as she jumped inside, her laughter echoing as she bounced around with her cousins.

Inside, the adults mingled, sharing stories and catching up while Edwin and Jamie chatted about their upcoming baby. "We're so excited and a little nervous," Jamie admitted, her smile reflecting her joy. "But we know we have an amazing support system."

As the afternoon wore on, it was time for presents. Lux was eager, her eyes wide as she tore through the wrapping paper, revealing toys, books, and clothes. Each gift brought a new wave of excitement, but one in particular caught her eye—a colorful plush toy of her favorite character.

"Wow, thank you!" Lux exclaimed, hugging the toy tightly.

Finally, as the party began to wind down, the sun started to set, casting a warm glow over the celebration. Jenna gathered everyone around for one last toast. "To Lux, may your life be filled with adventure, laughter, and love! Happy birthday, sweetheart!"

Everyone raised their glasses, echoing the sentiment. Lux clapped her hands, her joy palpable as she looked around at her family and friends.
