The morning sun filtered through the curtains as Jenna gently shook Lux awake. It was her first day of preschool, and everyone in the house was buzzing with excitement. Lux, still half-asleep, yawned and stretched before slowly sitting up, rubbing her eyes.
"Are you ready for your big day, sweetheart?" Jenna asked with a warm smile.
Lux nodded, though there was a mix of excitement and nervousness in her eyes. Ethan peeked into the room, holding a tiny backpack with Lux's name embroidered on it. "Look what I have!" he said cheerfully, hoping to make her feel more at ease.
Lux's face brightened at the sight of the backpack. It was purple, her favorite color, and had cute animal patches sewn on it. She hugged it close before getting dressed, her nerves seeming to melt away as she prepared for her big adventure.
Once ready, Lux grabbed her parents' hands, and they walked her to the car. The drive to the preschool was short, but Lux kept glancing out the window, watching the world go by, her tiny fingers fidgeting with her backpack straps.
When they arrived at the preschool, the building looked colorful and welcoming. Children were already playing in the yard, and teachers stood at the doors greeting families as they arrived. Ethan parked the car, and they all stepped out. Lux held tightly to Jenna's hand, her eyes wide as she took in the new surroundings.
"You're going to have so much fun here," Jenna whispered, kneeling down to Lux's level. "You'll make lots of new friends, and we'll be right here to pick you up later."
Lux nodded, though the nerves seemed to creep back as they walked inside. They were greeted by her new teacher, Miss Claire, who smiled warmly and knelt down to Lux's height. "Hi, Lux! We've been waiting for you. Come on in, and I'll show you where all the fun toys are."
Ethan and Jenna gave Lux a final hug and kiss. "We love you so much. You're going to do great, okay?" Ethan reassured her. Lux took a deep breath, then bravely let go of their hands, walking with Miss Claire to explore her new classroom.
As they left, Jenna wiped away a tear. "She's growing up so fast," she said, her voice full of pride and a hint of sadness. Ethan wrapped an arm around her, nodding. "She'll be okay. She's got a brave heart, just like you."
Lux spent the day making new friends, playing with toys, and discovering all the exciting things preschool had to offer. By the time her parents came to pick her up, she was beaming, eager to tell them all about her day.
It was the start of a new chapter for Lux, one filled with learning, laughter, and the adventures of growing up.
