Namjoon woke to the faint sound of his alarm. He quickly silenced it before it could wake Taehyung, who was still fast asleep. His body ached for more rest, so he decided to drift back to sleep.
The next time he stirred, it was to the sound of whispers. Cracking one eye open, he saw Jimin and Jungkook had joined Taehyung in bed, all three of them whispering and giggling quietly. Namjoon lay there, debating whether to stay in bed or get up. His decision was made for him when Hoseok poked his head into the room.
"Well, it's a good thing you're all awake. It's lunchtime, and we've got pizza and beer..." Hoseok started, but before he could finish, Jungkook shot up from the bed, exclaiming, "Yes! Pizza!" In his eagerness, he tried to leap out of the tangled mess of blankets, only to trip and land face-first on the floor.
For a brief moment, the room fell silent—then Jimin burst out laughing, and soon, the others followed. Namjoon found himself chuckling with them, the laughter contagious. Hoseok, still snickering, walked over to check on Jungkook, who sat on the floor pouting.
"Come on, get up," Hoseok teased, pulling the younger to his feet. "Pizza's waiting."
As Hoseok dragged Jungkook out of the room, reminding everyone to come soon, Namjoon finally got up and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. Behind him, Jimin and Taehyung had already started playfully wrestling on the bed, their laughter echoing through the dorm.
When Namjoon entered the common space, he found the other six men sitting on the floor, laughter and chatter filling the room. Jin was in the middle of trying to keep the maknaes from diving into the pizza too early. Spotting Namjoon, Jin smiled warmly."You're here. We were waiting for you," Jin said, his tone light.
Namjoon smiled sheepishly. "Sorry for the wait."
Jin waved it off with a grin, and he, along with Hoseok, began distributing the pizza onto plates. The maknaes, who had been bickering moments ago, paused and waited eagerly for their share. Soon enough, everyone had a slice in hand and a can of beer, the conversation shifting to random topics as they ate.
Namjoon didn't say much, preferring to listen to the lively stories and banter. Yet, as he sat there, surrounded by his teammates, he felt a sense of belonging—a warmth that had been absent for so long. For the first time in what seemed like ages, he allowed himself to relax. A quiet happiness settled over him, and in that moment, he felt at ease.
The hope of better days ahead stirred within him.
