Luke:
"Wait someone's calling me hold on." he says, standing up from the couch and walking out to the kitchen. You sigh, pausing the movie and take out your phone, scrolling through random social networking sites. After about fifteen minutes, Luke comes walking back in.
"Who was that?"
"Oh... just Calum." he says, putting on a fake smile.
"Is he okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, he's fine."
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah no, I'm good. Let's keep watching the movie."
You sigh and press play. If he doesn't want to talk, he doesn't have to. He seems pretty distant through the rest of your time together, and when your mom comes home, he excuses himself and goes back home. He usually at least stays for dinner. You sigh, figuring Calum had just gotten in trouble and Luke was part of the blame or something. You solemnly go upstairs and start doing your homework. You can't really focus, and you don't really care to. Math really isn't your thing. You walk downstairs and eat the dinner that your mom brought home and go back upstairs. You figure that you don't need to call Luke and say goodnight, so you brush your teeth and wash your face, then climb into bed at 9:30. It's pretty early, but you have nothing better to do and you never really get any sleep. You slowly fall into a deep, restful sleep.
The next morning, you wake up promptly at 6:00 and walk slowly to the bathroom to take a shower. You go through the motions, getting ready for school. You walk out the door and out to your car. You open the door and drive quickly to school. You walk to your first class, expecting to see your boyfriend standing outside because you have the class together.
'He's probably just late.' you reassure yourself.
The entire class period passes and he still doesn't show up. You pack up all of your stuff and walk to your next class. Soon, it's time to leave school and you still haven't seen your boyfriend or gotten a call or text from him. You decide to text him yourself.
To: Luke <3
hey where were you today?
Fifteen minutes later, still no reply. You walk out to your car and turn on the ignition. You drive home quickly and lay down on the couch. Soon, you hear a knock on the door. You gravely get up and open it. You see Luke's somber face looking back at you. You both stand in silence for a few moments before he gestures to ask if he can come inside and you let him.
"So... where were you today?" you try to ask as casually as possible, pretending not to be worried.
"Well, we had a bunch of business meetings come up. Look I have to tell you something."
You stare blankly back at him, trying to hold back the tears. You knew it was coming.
"Well, the reason Calum called me last night was to tell me some insane news. And I was happy until I realized what I'd have to sacrifice."
"Me?" you weakly smile through the tears that you had failed to keep in.
"Yeah..." he whispers, looking at the ground.
"What was the news?"
"I... I mean the boys and I got news that we're going on a tour of America."
"Wow... that's, that's something." you say, trying to come up with a response.
"I'm going to miss you so much."
"Then why are you breaking up with me?"
"I'm not... I just knew I'd be leaving you. I don't want to break up with you."
"You don't?"
"No, babe, come here," he says, taking a few steps forward and engulfing you in his arms.
"I thought you were going to break up with me." you say into his chest.
"No, I would never and I mean never break up with you. Especially if it was just because I'll be gone for a little while. And the reason I didn't call you or anything was because I didn't know how I could tell you."
"Luke, you can always tell me anything. You don't know how proud I am of all four of you. It's incredible that you get to go on tour while you're still 17, it really is. I'm going to miss you so badly while your gone, but I know it's worth it."
"I love you."
"I love you too, Luke."
