I...don't quite remember my home.

Some tell me that's because I'm from a far and distant land, others tell me that this is my home now and I don't need to worry.

But...I just can't help but think about it.

I'm not like the other people.

While my friends have powers for good like the power of Spring, of pure magic, of ice and healing,

I have power over the afterlife.

What does it do?

To be honest...I'm not entirely sure.

There are times where I wish I did.

When that happened, I would turn to my closest friend.

...but now he's gone.

-

I stepped out of the carriage with Princess Katherine, and our boots fell onto the bitter cold powder.

I felt my ears twitch under my coat hood and I quickly shifted into my normal form. My tail and ears disappeared, being replaced by purple avian wings and pointy elf ears.

We strolled up to the Rivendell palace, where the Major family stood.

They discussed with us what exactly had happened.

How Xornoth had lost control and Scott killed himself to save both of them.

After hearing that, I felt my heart freeze.

I knew he was in a lot of pain, but I didn't know he had just died.

My grip tightened on my cloak and Katherine put her hand on my shoulder.

I looked up at her and nodded, taking a deep breath.

The day continued, but it felt as though time was just dragging on.

I stood outside where their fight had happened, and sat down.

~

"You know, for someone who says they're blessed by some god of insanity, you're really sweet." Xornoth chuckled, elbowing Willow.

Willow giggles, "Hey! I can be mean!"

"Yeah, Foxy? Well do it! Be mean to me!"

Willow hesitates before sticking out her tongue.

"I can't to you! You're my friend!" She shouted and Xornoth laughed.

Willow rolls her eyes and pushed his shoulder.

Xornoth chuckles and fell back, laying down and staring up at his ceiling.

Willow laid down next to him and smiled.

"So..." Xornoth laid on his side, facing Willow, "Can you go into the Afterlife?"

...

"I don't know." Willow said quietly.

Xornoth looked into her eyes and she glanced down, blushing a bit.

"There's so little research done on any of this. I could try but what if I get stuck? What if I end up hurting myself or you?"

"Hey," Xornoth held her hand and Willow blushed heavily, "It's gonna be okay."

"How can you be so sure?" Willow whispered.

"Because I know you." Xornoth smiles, "Sure you can be too sweet for your own good but you're also stubborn as heck and refuse to believe that anyone is better than you."

Willow laughs and Xornoth chuckles.

"Now come on." He stands up, holding out a hand for her to take, "Let's go throw snowballs at Scott."

Willow smirks and takes his hand, standing up.

I opened my eyes and saw a flower blossoming nearby.

"What the-?" I whispered, standing up.

I walked over to it and kneeled down.

It was a purple flower that had dark red caressing the tips of the petals. It blew gently in the wind, as if whispering a song to me.

I gently touched a petal, gasping as it felt lighter in my hand.

My eyes widened and I felt a power rush to my hands.

I held the flower's stem, shutting my eyes and trying to calm down.

After a couple minutes, I felt something holding my hand and opened my eyes to see that the flower was now replaced with Xornoth, whose head was resting gently in my lap.

I gasped and Xornoth grumbled, slowly sitting up.

"What?" He whispered, looking around.

He made eye contact with me and his eyes widened.

"Willow!" He smiled, hugging me tightly.

I laughed and hugged back, trying not to hold back tears.

A cyan and gold flower blew in the wind nearby and I quickly used my powers to bring Scott back.

It felt like everything was going to be okay.

Like things were going to work out.

...that's the dream, right?

...that's simply a dream...

-

The following day, I returned to Rivendell to visit Xornoth.

He was in the garden, practicing his sword fighting skills.

"Hey! Need a partner?" I asked, strolling over.

Xornoth looked up and shrugged, "Sure."

He tossed me a spare sword and I caught it.

I walked across from him, my tail swishing behind me as I did.

He smiled at me and bowed, which I returned.

"Ready Foxy?" He teased and I huffed, my cheeks a bit red.

He chuckled and I ran up to him, swinging my sword.

"Gah-!" He dodged and swiped back.

We continued on for a couple minutes before I eventually called a duel.

"As much as I like beating you, I'm also here to check up on you." I said, putting the sword down.

"Why?" Xornoth asked.

"What do you mean why? Because you just got possessed by that demon!"

Xornoth looked down and the air went cold.

"I- ..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say or do.

"Look, Willow...I don't want to talk about it." He sighs, "Everyone's been asking me questions to know it for history but...I don't want to relive that."

I looked up at him and saw the pain and fear in his eyes.

"Having to remember the painful shouting, the destruction of worlds, how I tore families apart. ...how I tore my family apart. And I don't ever wanna remember the look of fear you gave me when you first saw me." Xornoth whispered and I felt tears form in my eyes.

"Xornoth..."

He looked into my eyes and I hugged him.

Xornoth hesitated before hugging back.

"It's going to be okay." I whispered.

"How can you be so sure?" Xornoth asked, a vulnerability in his tone that I had never heard before.

"Because I know you." I said, smiling up at him, "And I know how you won't stop until you know that your friends are safe. But you need to make sure that you're safe too, you goober." I poked his nose and Xornoth chuckled.

"Thanks, Willow."

"Yeah," I smiled, "Course."
